Abstract: The development of Internet of Things IoT applications can be facilitated by encoding the meaning of the data in the messages sent by IoT nodes, but the constrained resources of these nodes challenge the common Semantic Web solutions for doing this. In this article, we examine enabling technologies for adding semantics to the IoT. Especially, we analyze data formats, which enable IoT applications consume semantic IoT data in a straightforward and general fashion, and evaluate resource usage of different alternatives with a sensor system. Our experiment illustrates encoding and decoding of different data formats and shows how big a difference a data format can make in energy consumption. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for optimizing signaling in a mobile communication network, wherein a terminal devices equipped with a subscription is attempting to register to the mobile communication network. The method includes detecting an indication on an unsuccessful registering attempt; updating a counter value maintained for the subscription, the counter value indicating a number of the unsuccessful registering attempts; comparing the updated counter value with a predetermined maximum counter value; and if the updated counter value meets the predetermined maximum counter value instructing to disable a radio communication of the terminal device. Also disclosed are a terminal device computer program code and a subscription.

Abstract: A method and a server for determining a service level in a network for a user. The network includes information on the at least one user and at least one application associated with the at least one user. In the method at least one application is classified into a group among multiple groups according to an importance set for each of the at least one application, utilization of network resources by each of the application is determined by monitoring a characteristic within the network, at least one network parameter is determined for each of the groups based on the utilization of the network resources, a group in which exists at least one most important application associated with the user is determined, and the service level is provided for the user, which corresponds to the determined group.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for delivering data in at least two short messages being concatenated to each other. In the method a short message is delivered from an originating party to a destination party through a short message service center, an acknowledgement indicating a successful delivery of the delivered short message is received by the originating party from the short message center, and in response to the receipt of the acknowledgement indicating a successful delivery of the previous short message, at least one other short message is delivered to the destination party. The invention also relates to a server implementing at least part of the method steps.
