TL;DR: Purified scorpion toxin (Tityus serrulatus) depending upon the dose can produce either stimulation or paralysis of the respiratory movements of rats, and the ‘gasping’ type of breathing produced by the toxin shows a fairly regular pattern.

TL;DR: Two new compounds were isolated from the wood of Kielmeyera excelsa Camb containing 2,8-dihydroxy-1-methoxyxanthone and 1,2-methylenedioxyXanthone, both of which have shown the ability to cleaveopolysaccharide-like polypeptide chains.

TL;DR: The authors study the incidence of chagasic cardiopathy in 15.000 consecutive necropsis and its asscciation with "megas" to show a different incidence of associatedCardiopathy and megas in comparison with those observed in other parts of the country and other countries in South America.
Abstract: The authors studied the incidence of chagasic cardiopathy in 15.000 consecutive necropsis and its asscciation with "megas". There were 145 ocurrences of "megas" out of 875 chagasic cardiopathy (16.56 %) with the proininence of males. There was a greater incidence of "megas" in whites (55) rather than in mulattos (53) and in negroes (31) among 858 chagasic cardiopathy. In 848 chagasic cardiopathy, 85,78% were people who died between 21 and 60 years of age. The greatest number of cardiopathy (120 or 14.14%) and "megas" (21 or 15,78% ) was found in individuals from 36 to 40 years of age. These results show a different incidence of associated cardiopathy and megas in comparison loith those observed in other parts of the country and other countries in South America.

TL;DR: The purification procedure will be described, as well as the behavior of the enzyme in the presence of specific reagents for the trypsin active center.
Abstract: The kininogenase from rat urine has the properties of a trypsin-like enzyme, as determined with the help of synthetic substrates or competitive inhibitors (Mares-Guia and Diniz, 1967). The work done previously was carried out with a partially purified preparation of high specific activity. The purification procedure will now be described, as well as the behavior of the enzyme in the presence of specific reagents for the trypsin active center.

TL;DR: In this article, the role of the attentional, motor and non-planning impulsivities in motor timing tasks was investigated and it was found that the motor impulsivity was more related to the motor performance than the motor and planning impulsivities.
Abstract: : Little is known about the role of the attentional, motor and non-planning impulsivities in motor timing tasks. The aim of this study was to correlate the motor performance in a motor timing task with the performance in neuropsychological tests of twenty two volunteers. Before the execution of the motor task, participant wore a headphone and heard five times each temporal reference (2,500 and 3,500 msec) that consisted of two “bips”. After, the motor timing task was performed in five trials of each temporal reference. The task consisted in transporting tennis balls in a pre-defined sequence in each criterion time. It was evaluated: reaction time, movement time, constant error and absolute error. The neuropsychological tests IGT and CPT-II were applied to the evaluation of impulsivities. The findings indicated that attentional impulsivity was more related to the motor performance than the motor and non-planning impulsivities. Key Words: Impulsivity, motor control, motor timing task.

TL;DR: In this paper, a task consisting of carrying three tennis balls in a predetermined sequence and target time was performed with a hundred eight volunteers, divided into nine groups according to the combination of variables: demonstration, verbal instruction and knowledge of results.
Abstract: : Demonstration, verbal instruction and knowledge of results are variables presented during the process of motor skills acquisition but their interaction was not investigated. This question was tested with three frequencies of knowledge of results plus three ways to supply prior information (demonstration, verbal instruction and demonstration added to the verbal instruction). The task consisted of carrying three tennis balls in a predetermined sequence and target time. A hundred eight volunteers participated in the study, divided into nine groups according to the combination of variables. The experiment consisted of the acquisition phase with 60 trials of practice and tests and data reliability was tested through two way ANOVA. The results showed that demonstration and KR conducted to better performance during tests. Key Words: Motor Learning, Knowledge of Results, Demonstration, Verbal Instruction.
