TL;DR: In this article, a generalized least squares (G.L.S) estimate of a covariance matrix is obtained by minimizing tr[ {S -?(?) }V]2 where V is some positive definite matrix.
Abstract: Let S represent the usual unbiased estimator of a covariance matrix. ?o, whose elements are functions of a parameter vector ?o:?o = ?(?o). A generalized least squares (G.L.S.) estimate, ?. of ?o may be obtained by minimizing tr[ {S - ?(?) }V]2 where V is some positive definite matrix.

TL;DR: In this article, the infrared and Raman spectra of single-crystal KPF6 I were studied in the range 50°C to −190°C, and the polarized Raman Spectra of the same model were obtained at 25°C.

TL;DR: In this article, the repulsive elastic forces between island pairs, due to the overlap of the strain fields induced by the islands in the substrate, are calculated, and it is proposed that these forces, which are of a short range nature are insufficient to produce island glide, but nevertheless important enough to play a role in crystal growth.

TL;DR: In spite of denials by leading exponents, racism underlies much of Black consciousness thought, and there is complete withdrawal from Whites and White institutions as mentioned in this paper, and the South African Students' Organisation and the Black Peoples Convention discourage their members from participating in South African government created institutions.
Abstract: South African concept. Black consciousness is vaguely defined and contradictions exist in respect of its philosophical bases and objectives. The relative contributions of the cultures of Indians and Coloureds appear to be slight and African culture dominates. There is no doubt about the existential nature and political objectives of the movement Black consciousness and human relations. In spite of denials by leading exponents, racism underlies much of Black consciousness thought, and there is complete withdrawal from Whites and White institutions. The South African Students’ Organisation and the Black Peoples Convention – both organisations adhering to the ideals of Black consciousness – discourage their members from participating in South African government created institutions. Religious involvement. The viewpoint that theology is concerned with existential problems led to its political involvement and the belief that religious fulfilment can only be achieved together with or after fulfilment i...

TL;DR: In this article, an extension of a simple one-dimensional epitaxial island model, representing a twofold atomic layer grown on a rigid substrate, to a multilayered island model of completely arbitrary profile on a substrate of limited, though meaningful, elastic depth is presented.

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the deuteron wave function and the low-energy phase shift are the determining factors for the triton binding energy, and that the DEUTTERON wave function is of greater importance than the phase shift.
Abstract: It is shown that for separable potentials of rank two fixing the deuteron wave functions makes the triton binding energy insensitive to both the on-shell and off-shell T-matrix elements down to E/sub lab/ approx equal 20 MeV. It is concluded that the deuteron wave function and the low-energy phase shift are the determining factors for the triton binding energy, and that the deuteron wave function is of greater importance than the phase shift. TL;DR: In this article, the equilibrium contact angle between a small epitaxial cap-shaped nucleus and its elastic substrate is calculated using a simple one-dimensional model of the Frenkel-Kontorowa type, which emphasises the discrete nature of the atoms and atomic layers of the deposit and substrate.

TL;DR: In this paper, a set of phase-equivalent three-term separable potentials in the /sup 3/S/sub 1/-/sup 3 /D/sub O/ state was constructed by solving the in verse scattering problem, and the D-state percentage in the deuteron varies between 4 and 8%.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors use a political approach to business strategy formulation where political is interpreted in terms of the following definition of politics:Politics is a process which takes place when one or more actors attempt to structure a situation in such a way that their individual goals are promoted.
Abstract: It is the objective of this article to use a political approach to business strategy formulationwhere political is interpreted in terms of the following definition of politics:Politics is a process which takes place when one or more actors attempt to structure a situation in such a way that their individual goals are promoted. The term 'actor' is used here so as to mean an individual, a group, an organisation or even a nation. If the definition is acceptable then the firm can most certainly be viewed as a political actor, since it will strive to create conditions in its environment and to restructure the environment so that the people and the organisations it interacts with will behave in ways that the firm desires. The question one naturally asks is why a political approach to strategy is suggested. It is felt the current theoretical approaches to business strategy fall short in two respects. First, they tend to concentrate heavily on the "commercial" aspects of strategy formulation devoting attention predominantly to product/market considerations. Second, they tend to ignore the political implications of actively attempting to restructure the environment so that the firm's own goals are promoted. In practice, top managers are fully aware of these shortcomings and in fact do formulate informal political strategies. In this

TL;DR: In this paper, a solution to the inverse scattering problem was proposed to generate phase-equivalent separable potentials in the 1 S 0 and 3 S 1 − 3 D 1 states, which have nearly the same singlet UPA form factors and deuteron parameters (ED, PD, QD, AS and A D A S ) as the Reid soft-core potential.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compare the reasons for introducing the Wohnungseigentumsgesetz with those which led to the introduction of the Sectional Titles Act and draw a comparison between the ways in which certain particular aspects are regulated by the two statutes.
Abstract: This article consists of three parts. In the first part the reasons for introducing the Wohnungseigentumsgesetz will be compared with those which led to the introduction of the Sectional Titles Act. The aim of this comparison is to provide a background for certain peculiar provisions of each statute. In the second part the dogmatic construction of both statues, which also accounts for certain specific provisions, will be compared. In the last section a comparison will be drawn between the ways in which certain particular aspects are regulated by the two statutes.

TL;DR: In this paper, field observations made during a reconnaissance soil survey of the Central Orange River Basin for the Orange River Development Project, showed significant relationships between soil landscapes and associated vegetation, and it was clear that certain soil types (soil forms and/or series) are always associated with particular plant communities.
Abstract: Field observations made during a reconnaissance soil survey of the Central Orange River Basin for the Orange River Development Project, showed significant relationships between soil landscapes and associated vegetation. Although no intentional ecological studies were made it was clear that certain soil types (soil forms and/or series) are always associated with particular plant communities. In view of this general consistent soil-plant relationship observed in the survey area, it is reasoned that apart from climatic and topographic factors, the soil should in future be taken into consideration in defining and mapping of veld types.
