TL;DR: The aim is to see what South African urbanization can learn from the comparison between Third and First World urbanization.
Abstract: This paper analyses various demographic and economic features of the urbanization process that is taking place in Third World (developing) and First World (developed) countries. A comparison of some demographic and economic differences between contemporary Third World urbanization and First World urbanization at a comparable stage of development is made. The aim is to see what South African urbanization can learn from the comparison between Third and First World urbanization. The paper concludes that the difference between them may often be ascribed to the rapid population expansion taking place in developing countries. In South Africa, the problem of numbers is complicated by the differentiated plural social order. The knowledge gained and example set by developed countries constitute an invaluable resource for other countries to draw upon. The contrast between the two groups of countries may facilitate the understanding of urban policies in South Africa.

TL;DR: The Employment Research Unit undertook three surveys on the informal sector during 1985 and 1986, two among Blacks and one among Coloureds as discussed by the authors, and the aim of the surveys was to establish the composition and nature of the sector in the Port Elizabeth/Uitenhage area.
Abstract: The Employment Research Unit undertook three surveys on the informal sector during 1985 and 1986, two among Blacks and one among Coloureds. The aim of the surveys was to establish the composition and nature of the sector in the Port Elizabeth/Uitenhage area. It was found that in both these sectors most of the respondents were involved in trading and that very few were involved in manufacturing. Incomes earned by most of the respondents were low. and compared to subsistence level incomes only, It also appeared that the employment creation spin‐off was low. Similar problems inhibited the growth and development of this sector for both Blacks and Coloureds. They were: short‐ and long‐term loans, accommodation, poor infrastructure, and legal restrictions.

TL;DR: In this article, a pilot study was undertaken to evaluate the strategic orientation of marketing planning by franchised motor dealers in the motor industry. And the findings of this study seem to indicate that marketing planning is not conducted in the manner suggested in the marketing literature, with a few exceptions, respondents do not strategically plan their marketing effort, do not conduct their marketing planning in a formal, structured manner, and depend to a large extent on their manufacturers with regard to important aspects of their marketing.
Abstract: A number of authors have emphasized the necessity for a strategic orientation towards organizational planning and marketing planning, particularly if firms operating under dynamic and ever-changing market conditions want to survive and prosper. Changing market conditions can offer both opportunities and threats to business firms. To achieve its goals a firm thus has to ensure that its 'strategic fit' with its environment is at an optimum to enable it to exploit opportunities and successfully overcome threats. Against this background a pilot study was undertaken to evaluate the strategic orientation of marketing planning by franchised motor dealers. The findings of this study seem to indicate that marketing planning by franchised dealers in the motor industry is not conducted in the manner suggested in the marketing literature. More specifically the findings of this study are that, with a few exceptions, respondents do not strategically plan their marketing effort, do not conduct their marketing planning in a formal, structured manner as suggested in the literature, and depend to a large extent on their manufacturers with regard to important aspects of their marketing planning. It furthermore appears as if the marketing efforts of manufacturers and respondents are not sufficiently co-ordinated and integrated.

TL;DR: In this paper, different types of antonyms are discussed, and the differences and relatedness between them are shown by looking at their various characteristics, including morphology, syntactic and semantic use.
Abstract: Antonymy is regarded as one of the important sense relations. While traditionally it was taken as the opposite of synonymy, it is defined as opposition drawn along some dimension of similarity, and also in terms of negation and componential analysis. It is thus oppositeness of meaning irrespective of whether we deal with binary or non-binary contrasts. In the discussion of different types of antonyms, their morphology, syntactic and semantic use is also highlighted. The differences and relatedness between them is shown by looking at their various characteristics.

TL;DR: In this paper, the concept of completely prime and completely semiprime ideals for Γ-rings was introduced, and some properties of these ideals were studied. But they were not considered in this paper.
Abstract: In this note we introduce the concept of completely prime and completely semiprime ideals for Γ-rings and study some of the properties of these ideals. Furthermore we introduce the concept of the completely prime radical of an ideal of a Γ-ring and also show that the upper radical determined by a class of completely prime rings is a special radical. We define an mc-system to give an elementwise characterization of the completely prime radical. Finally we show that if R is the right operator ring of a Γ ring H and W has a strong right unity, then there is a one-to-one correspondence between the completely prime ideals of R and that of M.
