Abstract: Objective: To explore the correlation between the plasma renalase level of coronary artery disease (CAD) patients and the degree of coronary artery stenosis. Methods: A total of 180 patients who received coronary angiography in our hospitals from August 2013 to October 2013 were selected as the CAD group, of which 164 were finally diagnosed as CAD. Another 140 healthy subjects were selected as the control group. The plasma renalase levels of the two groups were detected by ELISA to analyze CA-induced changes and to clarify the correlations with the number of branches with coronary artery stenosis and Syntax scores. Results: The plasma renalase level of the CAD group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P 0.05). Besides, the plasma renalase level of the low-risk subgroup was significantly higher than those of the medium-risk and high-risk subgroups (P < 0.05), and the level of the medium-risk subgroup was significantly higher than that of the high-risk subgroup (P < 0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that renalase level was the risk factor of CAD (OR=1.12, 95%CI: 1.03-3.34). Conclusion: Plasma renalase level was correlated with CAD, the changes of which may reflect the degree of coronary artery stenosis. Therefore, plasma renalase level can be used to indicate the progression of CAD.

Abstract: OBJECTIVE This paper is aimed at to evaluate B7-H1 expression as induced by human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) in extravillous cytotrophoblast cell line HPT-8 and possible underlying mechanism. METHOD Real time PCR and flow cytometry were used to determine B7-H1 mRNA and protein before and after HCMV infection in HPT-8 cells. Western blot analysis was used to determine the level of MAPK phosphorylation in HPT-8 cell lines infected with HCMV. RESULTS 100TCID50 was found to be the most effective dose, capable of stimulating B7-H1 mRNA and protein expression in HPT-8 cells. When empty control group was considered to have a B7-H1 mRNA value of 1, B7-H1 mRNA was 4.32 in 100TCID50 group. In flow cytometry study, mean fluorescence intensity (MFI) of 100TCID50 group was 16.14, while empty control group was 1.34. Both mRNA and protein expression were found to be significantly increased (P<0.05) in 100TCID50 group compared to empty control group. The result of Western blot analysis showed increase in B7-H1 expression caused by the extracellular signaling that was related to ERK activation and the ERK inhibitor U0126 was found to reverse this increase. CONCLUSION HCMV upregulates B7-H1 expression in human extravillous cytotrophoblast cell line HPT-8, which is related to MAPK activation. Our result would be helpful in finding better therapies against intrauterine HCMV infection.

Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the clinical therapeutic effects of anterior decompression on spinal osteoporotic fracture and inflammatory cytokines. Methods: A total of 140 patients with spinal osteoporotic fracture were selected and randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group (n=70). The control group was treated by central corpectomy, and the control group was treated by anterior decompression. Results: The rate of excellent and good outcomes in the treatment group was 94.3%, and that of the control group was 78.6%, which differed significantly (P < 0.05). Cobb angle and cord occupancy in the spinal canal of both groups significantly decreased (P < 0.05), while height ratio of the injured vertebral body significantly increased (P < 0.05). Meanwhile, there were statistically significant inter-group differences (P < 0.05). During the three-month follow-up period, the treatment group was significantly less prone to complications such as superficial infection, spinal instability and screw breakage compared with the control group (P < 0.05). The postoperative serum MMP-3 and IL-6 levels of both groups significantly decreased compared with those before surgeries (P < 0.05), with statistically significant inter-group differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Compared with central corpectomy, anterior decompression exerted better effects on spinal osteoporotic fracture by improving the prognosis and stabilizing the spine safely, which may be associated with the effectively reduced serum MMP-3 and IL-6 levels.
