TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the level of organization, mobilization and collective action among neolocal urban groups threatened with removal and relocation for large infrastructure projects in Southeast Asia, and found that habitat defense is extensive in Bangkok, Jakarta and Manila, but minor or non-existent in Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur.

TL;DR: In any discussion of the problems associated with the so-called standardization of a language it is useful to make some distinctions and ask some pertinent questions at the outset; it is doubtful if the complete set of answers will be the same for any two communities, and doubtful therefore whether there are any universally valid procedures to be laid down.
