TL;DR: The authors show that many ways of treating talk and textual data fall short of discourse analysis, such as under analysis through summary, under-analysis through taking sides, underanalysis through over-quotation or through isolated quotation, the circular identification of discourses and mental constructs, false survey, and analysis that consists in simply spotting features.
Abstract: A number of ways of treating talk and textual data are identified which fall short of discourse analysis. They are: (1) under-analysis through summary; (2) under-analysis through taking sides; (3) under-analysis through over-quotation or through isolated quotation; (4) the circular identification of discourses and mental constructs; (5) false survey; and (6) analysis that consists in simply spotting features. We show, by applying each of these to an extract from a recorded interview, that none of them actually analyse the data. We hope that illustrating shortcomings in this way will encourage further development of rigorous discourse analysis in social psychology.

Abstract: A partir de nuestra experiencia etnografica en chats, en el marco del estudio "Entre Dones a la Xarxa: Un estudi sobre les interaccions socials entre dones en espais de conversa electronics", intentamos problematizar aquellas aproximaciones metodologicas a los entornos virtuales que adaptan de manera directa el metodo etnografico hasta ahora seguido en el ambito offline: ?Que de novedoso hay en los trabajos etnograficos online? ?Nos sigue siendo util la observacion participante y la entrevista semiestructurada para los nuevos entornos virtuales? ?Cuales son sus limites y posibilidades? Durante nuestro trabajo de observacion participante en chats hemos querido experimentar con el metodo etnografico para intentar responder a cuestiones de este tipo. From our ethnographic experience in chats, for the study "Entre Dones a la Xarxa: Un estudi sobre les interaccions socials entre dones en espais de conversa electronics", we try to question those methodological approaches to the virtual areas that adapt directly the ethnographic method, which until now has been used in the offline scope: What is new in the ethnographic works online? Is still the participant observation and the semi-structured interview useful for the new virtual scope? Which are their limits and possibilities? During our work of participant observation in chats we have wanted to experiment with the ethnographic method in order to try to respond to all these questions.

Abstract: Many postmodern authors have claimed the dissolution of identity due to the multiplicity of personal relationships, to the variety of experiences or to the huge social changes in process.
Nonetheless, I argue that, in spite of not being possible to sustain an essentialist conception of the subject, there are many elements that preclude an absolute dissolution of identity, anchoring the subject to a certain personal identity, but in a problematic, conflictive, and changing way.
Furthermore, the dissolution of identity would not necessarily be beneficial for subjects nor groups, as long as the demand of interaction rights comes close to the maintaining of acknowledgeable identities. The problem would rather be the difficulty to accede to valuable identities in the prevailing life conditions, making difficult to produce positive self-discourses, and thus generalizing processes of identity ?fragilization?.

Abstract: This text intends to approach the question of sexual identity as it has been defined in queer theory, and particularly in Judith Butler's work. The notion of performativity, closely related to a conception of the social as an open field of power relations where all identity is a contingent and precarious stabilization, leads to a politicization of identity that implies a second step further from its denaturalization. Identity is the place from which we can articulate a resistance politics, and its open and incomplete character is what allows its resignification.

Abstract: La conceptualizacion de los movimientos sociales que aqui se presenta no se establece tanto en el marco de las principales teorizaciones realizadas en torno a los movimientos sociales sino que pretende articular otro escenario teorico desde el que arrojar una nueva mirada a las practicas de los movimientos. Asi, se establecera un recorrido construido sobre la base de tres premisas fundamentales. La primera de ellas enfatiza la dimension paradojica de la identidad al poner de manifiesto una heterogeneidad constitutiva en toda practica identitaria que no puede ser subsumida en una unica dimension o plano semiotico. La segunda premisa desarrolla esta dimension paradojica de la identidad en el campo de los movimientos sociales, lo que nos lleva a formular una propuesta de definicion de los movimientos sociales sobre la base de una paradoja constitutiva que pondra en relacion la teoria del actor-red con la socialidad proxemica. Por ultimo, la reflexion analiza la forma que adquiere la (re)produccion de la mencionada paradoja constitutiva, planteando que dicha (re)produccion adquiere, en su desarrollo, una configuracion ironica.

Abstract: By relating Bakhtin?s work and the theory of intertextuality to a discussion of the idea of subjectivity as an individual self (i.e. isolated and isolable from its context), this paper seeks to apply some of Bakhtin?s concepts to the reading ?term that comprises a sense of everlasting interpretation and production- of the interviews we conducted to psychotherapists. Doing so helped us explore the way therapists? subjectivity is constituted within institutional contexts that are instilled ideologically and passionately by manifold voices. In order to account for this process, we bring in the notion of located biography. Such a term denotes an underway-produced multiplicity. Therefore, through its utterance it synthesizes a collective experience. The paper concludes thinking of the potentiality for qualitative research of the approach developed.

Abstract: In this article I will talk, with neither an optimistic, nor a victimistic approach, about the problem of gender discrimination in everyday dynamics of social interaction. Indeed, instead of focusing in the constatation of the existence of such problems, I will try to propose lines of change and I will frame the research field to a supposedly developed space in relation with this topics: Social Movements. Some militant women will tell us what, in their opinion, we will need to do in order to make gender relations within SM not discriminatory. Their narratives will be useful tools for debates on the deconstruction of sexism.

Abstract: This article tries to articulate certain drifts in ?social psychology of science? with different contributions from ?feminist studies of science?. This is done in a reflexive aim in order to analyse how gender structures intersect the practices of psychological knowledge production. In this process sexual subjects and objects of psychological knowledge are constructed. It is also stressed, the relevance given in feminist epistemologies to the analysis of subjectivities conformation in the production of science. As well as, to the role of diverse subject-knowledge-positions and its necessary democratic inclusion for a more objective and social fair science-psychology.

Abstract: This article addresses the relationship between ethnic identity and school performance of Moroccan youth living in Barcelona (Spain), particularly in cases of academic success. The bulk of the article makes reference to examples from ethnographical research to pinpoint the strategies used by some of these youths and their families to transcend the cultural, linguistic, and social barriers they face both in school and in their wider community. In so doing, we shift our gaze from John Ogbu?s immigrant/involuntary typology to the patterns of variability along ethnic, class and gender lines that exist within this minority group. Results from recent ethnographic research points out that high academic performance does not necessarily entails neither rejection of ethnicity nor simple conformity. Rather, some of these Moroccan youth adopt an instrumental view of education that promotes the development of new and proactive cultural identities inside and outside the school arena.

Abstract: El conflicto colombiano parece constituirse en un caso emblematico para el analisis de conflictos. Su duracion, el tipo y cantidad de actores implicados, el escenario en el cual se desarrolla y los medios a traves de los cuales se transforma, son condiciones singulares que hacen complejo cualquier analisis tanto como cualquier solucion. La psicologia, y especialmente la psicologia social, al menos en Colombia, han tenido pocas implicaciones en el tema hasta hace poco tiempo con el auge de estudios en torno a desplazamientos, secuestro y secuelas emocionales de la violencia, entre otros grandes temas, razon de mas para indagar formas alternativas de interpretacion y analisis del conflicto en cuestion. Partiendo de este marco se propuso el desarrollo de un estudio teorico a partir de conceptos provenientes de Michel Serres y la Teoria del Actor-Red, enriquecida con algunos de sus planteamientos. A continuacion se presentan algunos conceptos de utilidad para el trabajo.

Abstract: Nuestra apuesta en esta investigacion ha sido justamente problematizar aquella subsuncion de lo cotidiano por la politica-institucional que se genera en los diversos analisis acerca del ‘Chile actual’, interrogando e indagando al espacio del dia a dia, un espacio que continuamente debe lidiar con diferencias y conflictos de un pasado que se hace presente. Esta investigacion va desplegando aquella polifonia de voces cotidianas, que se interrogan, contradicen, confluyen, asienten, acusan, silencian, enfrentan, colisionan, articulando sentidos de reconciliacion en tension que posibilitan otra forma de hacer, otra forma de enfrentar las diferencias pasadas en el presente. Asi, las narraciones cotidianas configuradas desde lo siendo, van ejerciendo una politica desde el conflicto, suspendiendo toda certeza, toda historia concluida y abriendo una posibilidad que no se manifestaba desde la logica politico-institucional, la posibilidad de transformacion desde los pasados presentes, desde las memorias configuradas en las relaciones cotidianas.

Abstract: Nessa apresentacao, propomos uma reflexao sobre a agencia de objetos compreendidos como participes e produtos de redes heterogeneas. O que chamamos de objetos nao apresenta uma ontologia diferente do que chamamos de pessoas - ambos resultam de processos de estabilizacao que atribuem intencionalidade aos humanos e instrumentalidade as coisas (Latour, 1994). Note-se que compreender a acao das coisas ou objetos nao implica em propor uma especie de animismo que atribua intencionalidade as coisas (Tirado, 2000), nem a negacao de intencionalidade as pessoas. A acao e propriedade de um coletivo no qual alguns entes adquirem propriedades estaveis em determinadas circunstâncias nas quais agem. Incorporar a acao de entes aos quais nao e conferida humanidade – os objetos - constitui desafio que, ao lado de outros autores, nos propomos a enfrentar a partir da analise de situacoes ocorridas em diferentes contextos: artistico (Gullar, 1966; Oiticcica, 1968), cientifico (Mol, A., 2000) e ecologico (Tirado et al, 2003).

Abstract: This article exemplifies a kind of tension that has been caused by the emergent world order; specifically, the one that has been established between the economic and social rationalities. In order to do so, it portrays the description that the ?Asociacion Nacional Pro-Referendo Ley 100? (ANPR) made of the Colombia?s Health System in an article called: ?Documento Parcial Preparatorio?. From this article we can highlight some metaphores that exemplify the before metioned tension, the actors involve in it and the proposed political action. In addition to that, there is a use of the cyborg image (Haraway,1991), the idea of the symbiotic contract (Serres, 1990), and the concept of the organizational government (Schvarstein, 2003) to translate the ANPR`s discourse and seek new ways of thinking. This article should not be taken as a reflection of the Health System?s reality. Instead, it should be taken as a possible reading to be given a second thought in order to produce a broader vision of the situation and a new point of view.

One of the most outstanding effects of these transformations is that labour becomes above all an absorption of neuromagma and the different modalities of intersubjective relation. Besides, the demand of workforce gets modified contracting itself and causing the expiration of the socalled ?working society?. All in all, it is about psycho-social swallowing up, the objection to some bahaviours, noises that distort momentarily sense and meaning. In general, what these questions reveal is the need of proposing new practice and categorizations regarding the theory of value and the critics to politics.

Abstract: El presente articulo pretende estudiar la utilizacion de datos cientificos como argumento, en una discusion acaecida en Brasil en junio de 1999, sobre la legitimidade de la adopcion oficial de una estrategia de prevencion del SIDA. A lo largo del texto se busca desfamiliarizar una cierta practica argumentativa comun al area del SIDA, que consiste en utilizar una clasificacion cientifica como principal criterio de legitimacao de una medida de salud publica. Argumentamos, que es en el ambito de las negociaciones que se dan entre las personas y en la mobilizacion de los objetos, que la posibilidad de legitimidad de uma medida de prevencion es establecida, partiendo aqui de una postura construccionista dentro de la Psicologia Social de la ciencia.

Abstract: Pensar o corpo e pensar um paradoxo: ele e um lugar, um processo de disputa entre objetividade e subjetividade, sobre o humano e o nao humano, sobre arte e ciencia. Falar do corpo e falar desse grande paradoxo, em constante devir porque o corpo e um SENDO, que carrega nossa memoria, nossos tempos (ou nosso tempo) e nossas sensibilidades. Definido como esse “carregador” de um processo permanente, cheio de memorias e sensibilidades, traz em sua existencia a materializacao de humanidades. Gracas as tecnologias de comunicacao, o corpo hoje pode estar em muitos lugares. O interior do corpo pode ser minuciosamente transparente e translucido e, mais importante, visivel em sua interioridade orgânica. Novas tecnologias medicas e cientificas e objetos cada vez menores e mais eficazes sao capazes de explorar esse espaco fluido, antes cheio de segredos. Ganho de complexidade: o corpo e pensado e atravessado por diferentes tecnologias. Ele tornou-se virtual.
