TL;DR: The least post-operative pain was found in Mtwo group followed by Kedo-S group and K-file group, which lead to faster, cost-effective, uniform and predictable fillings.
Abstract: Objective: Despite the tortuous course of primary root canal system, a paradigm shift occurred from conventional hand files to rotary system, which lead to faster, cost-effective, uniform and predictable fillings. One of the many advantages being, reduction in post-operative pain with the use of rotary system. Many rotary file systems were introduced, with the recent one, the Kedo-S. So the present study aimed to compare and evaluate the post – operative pain after pulpectomy using K-files, MTwo files and Kedo-S files in deciduous molars. Material and Methods: 75 teeth were randomly divided into three groups (group A – K-files, group B - Kedo-S files and group C - MTwo files) for pulpectomy of primary molars. Post – operative pain was assessed every 6,12,24,48 and 72 hours using facial pain scale. Results: 44% of volunteers in K-file group had moderate pain followed by Kedo-S group that is 8% and then MTwo files that is 4%. Conclusion: The least post-operative pain was found in Mtwo group followed by Kedo-S group and K-file group. Keywords Pulpectomy; Post-operative pain; MTwo; Kedo-S.

TL;DR: The diagnostic accuracy was high with dental pulse oximeter followed by cold, heat and the least was electric pulp tester in different pulpal conditions, and the custom-made holder used in the present study aided in providing accurate response for pulp vitality testing.
Abstract: Background: t he efficiency of the diagnostic aids plays an important role in the treatment plan. This study aims to assess the diagnostic accuracy of dental pulse oximeter with a customized sensor holder, thermal test and electric pulp tester in assessing the actual pulp status and to evaluate the oxygen saturation level in control healthy teeth, non-vital and teeth with irreversible pulpitis. Material and methods: t hirty-seven single canal teeth requiring endodontic therapy were included in the study. The selected teeth were tested with dental pulse oximeter, electric pulp test, cold spray, and heated gutta percha stick. Between each test a time lag of 2 minutes was allowed for the central sensitization to occur. Three blinded operators were involved in the study. The actual status of the pulp was evaluated after the initiation of endodontic treatment. To assess the actual pulp status direct visual examination of access cavity as performed. The data was statistically analysed using (ANOVA) Analysis of Variance and Post-hoc Tukey test. Results: sensitivity of pulse oximeter, heat test, cold and electric pulp test, was 100, 25, 50, and 12, respectively. The specificity of these tests was 100, 72 81, and 77, respectively. The ANOVA showed that there was statistical difference between all the groups (p=0.0005). Post-Hoc Tukey revealed that there was statistical difference among all the groups, nonvital group (p=0.0005), control group (p=0.01) and for irreversible pulpitis (p=0.01). The overall diagnostic accuracy of pulse oximeter was 100% followed by cold test 66%, heat test to be 49% and electric pulp test to be 45%. Conclusion: the custom-made holder used in the present study aided in providing accurate response for pulp vitality testing. In this study the diagnostic accuracy was high with dental pulse oximeter followed by cold, heat and the least was electric pulp tester in different pulpal conditions. TL;DR: Physico-chemical factors that affect the integrity and durability of the adhesive/dentin interfacial bond are examined and how these factors act synergistically with mechanical forces to undermine the composite restoration is explored.
Abstract: Composite restorations have higher failure rates, more recurrent caries and increased frequency of replacement as compared to dental amalgam. Penetration of bacterial enzymes, oral fluids, and bacteria into the crevices between the tooth and composite undermines the restoration and leads to recurrent decay and failure. The gingival margin of composite restora tions is particularly vulnerable to decay and at this margin, the adhesive and its seal to dentin provides the primary barrier between the prepared tooth and the environment. The intent of this article is to examine physico-chemical factors that affect the integrity and durability of the adhesive/dentin interfacial bond; and to explore how these factors act synergistically with mechanical forces to undermine the composite restoration. The article will examine the various avenues that have been pursued to address these problems and it will explore how alterations in material chemistry could address the detrimental impact of physico-chemical stresses on the bond formed at the adhesive/dentin interface.

TL;DR: Kedo-S rotary system provides better quality of root canal filling in minimum instrumentation time and highest under fill was obtained with reciprocating file group.
Abstract: Objective: Pulpectomy is the conservative treatment approach that retains and preserves the primary tooth in the dental arch in its normal function and non-pathologic state until its exfoliation. Over the years, pulpectomy has been performed using various instrumentation techniques. The aim of this study was to compare the quality of root filing and instrumentation time using Kedo-S files, Reciprocating files and K-files in primary teeth. Material And Methods: A randomized clinical trial was performed on 45 primary molars equally distributed for instrumentation with Kedo-S files, reciprocating files and K-Files. Immediate post-operative digital radiographs were taken to evaluate the quality of root filing and root canal instrumentation time was also recorded. Results: Mean instrumentation time with Kedo-S was 75.6 seconds, reciprocating file was 190.6 seconds and K-file was 95.4 seconds. Highest optimal fill was obtained with Kedo-S file group, highest overfill was obtained with Kedo-S group and highest under fill was obtained with reciprocating file group. Conclusion: Kedo-S rotary system provides better quality of root canal filling in minimum instrumentation time. KEYWORDS Pulpectomy; Primary teeth; Root canal filling; Rotary files.
