Abstract: This paper briefly analyzed the impact of China's fastgrowing economy, entry into WTO, and the implementation of the 6 national forestry development programs on the future supply and demand of timber. Poplar is one of the major forest plantation species in China. Therefore, Poplar plantation forest development and timber processing and utilization will have very important effects on the future relationship between timber supply and demand. This paper reviewed the current situation of processing and utilization of Poplar timber worldwide. It also suggested focusing on future market segmentation, developing high quality Poplar plantation forests, improving current technology of Poplar timber, and developing new products.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of thermal-mechanical treatment on surface characteristics of straw were investigated by means of infrared (IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis.
Abstract: The effects of thermal-mechanical treatment on surface characteristics of straw were investigated by means of infrared (IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis Results showed that there are great differences in chemical composition between outer face and inner face of rice straw For example, there are only a few active groups, like hydroxyls, on outer face of the straw with an oxygen/carbon (O/C) ratio as low as 0 068 while more hydroxyl groups were on the inner face where the O/C ratio reached 0 284 However, after thermal-mechanical treatment, more hydroxyl groups occurred on the straw fibers obtained by thermal-mechanical treatment and the O/C ratio increased greatly The results indicated that thermal-mechanical treatment can improve interface bonding efficiency between straw and adhesives It provides evidence for further study on manufacturing straw-based MDF with UF resin

TL;DR: The minimum requirements for the national standards for particleboard and MDF could be met for panels made from Sand Willow, as well as the MDF made from mixed fibers of Sand Willow and Korshinsk peashrup as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: The processing technologies for making wood based panels from Sand Willow (Salix cheilophila) and Korshinsk Peashrup (Caragana korshinshii) were studied to determine the most effective utilization of desert shrubs from western China The conclusions were that the minimum requirements for the national standards for particleboard and MDF could be met for panels made from Sand Willow, as well as the MDF made from mixed fibers of Sand Willow and Korshinsk Peashrup These technologies have now been put into industrial production In addition, the properties of particleboard made from Korshinsk Peashrup and mixed Sand WillowKorshinsk Peashrup chips also exceeded the minimum national standards The results indicated that Sand Willow and Korshinsk Peashrup are suitable as the raw materials for woodbased panel production

TL;DR: The SFL6100 single deck fast overlaying production line is a new product developed by SUFOMA Company Ltd as mentioned in this paper, and the design principles, structural features and parameter calculations for the main equipment in the line, such as the hot press and the loading unloading machine, were discussed and their advantages analyzed.
Abstract: The SFL6100 singledeck fast overlaying production line is a new product developed by SUFOMA Company Ltd. In this article, the design principles, structural features and parameter calculations for the main equipment in the line, such as the hot press and the loading unloading machine, were discussed and their advantages analyzed. The test results for the equipment showed that the efficiency of this new type of overlaying production line could be greatly increased when the clamp framevacuum chuck devices were installed on the loading and unloading machine.

TL;DR: In this paper, the mechanical behavior of Moso Bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescens) under large compression deformation at different temperatures and directions (radial, tangential and longitudinal) with restricting conditions.
Abstract: This study tested the mechanical behavior of Moso Bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescens) under large compression deformation at different temperatures and directions (radial, tangential and longitudinal) with restricting conditions. Based on the experimental data, the relationship between stress and strain was established. The results showed that bamboo revealed the same mechanical properties under compression in both radial and tangential directions. The entire deformation process could be divided into three stages: linear plasticity, feeble linearity strengthening after yielding, and power strengthening.
