Abstract: Objective To observe the effect of berberine to islet β-cell function in type 2 diabetes mellitus (damp-heat type). Methods 60 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (damp-heat type) were randomly divided into 2 groups, under basic treatment of 2 weeks with metformin, the treatment group was given berberine. After 8 weeks, the changes in the levels of blood glucose, insulin, HbA1c, CRP and the grade of traditional Chinese medicine individual event symptom and general integral symptom were observed. Apply the formular to evaluate the pancreas's function. Results Each group had notable difference before and after the experiment in many aspects, especially in treatment group. There was a notable difference in 2 groups. Conclusion Berberine has obvious effect on increasing insulin releasing level, improving insulin sensibility, lightening insulin resistance and improving islet β-cell function.

Abstract: Objective To establish a HPLC method to determinate the content of Gambogic acid and Gambogenic acid in Gamboge Method The colum of RP-HPLC was Hypersil ODS C18 (46 mm×250 mm, 5 μm) The mobile phase was consisted of methanol-water (01% Acetic acid) (93︰7), the wavelength of detector was 360 nm, at a flow rate of 100 mL/min Both were assayed with external standard method Result The method of Gambogic acid was linear at the range of 245~49 μg/mL with the regression equation Y=11 3348+232 781X (r=0999 9, n=5), the average recovery was 993%, RSD was 102% (n=6) The method of Gambogenic acid was linear at the range of 255~51 μg/mL with the regression equation Y=75 1975+226 301X (r=0999 7, n=5), the average recovery was 1005%, RSD was 148% (n =6) Conclusion The method is simple, accurate and reliable for the determination of the content of Gambogic acid and Gambogenic acid in Gamboge, and can be used for quality control of Gamboge

Abstract: Objective To analysis compositions of the volatile oil in Adenosma glutinosum (Linn.) Druce. Methods GC-MS was used with programmed temperature gas chromatography:raising the temperature (4 ℃/min) to 28 ℃, keeping 9 min. Results GC-MS identified 49 kinds of contents. Conclusion Eucalyptol,β- Bisabolene, Limonene, γ-Terpinene, alpha-pinene, Caryophyllene, alpha-Farnesene, Piperitone, Globulol, 3-Carene, β-Sesquiphellandrene, L-Fenchone, Caryophyllene oxide and Linalool are main compositions of the volatile oil in Adenosma glutinosum (Linn.) Druce.

Abstract: Objective To observe the clinical effect of warm acupuncture-moxibustion on spastic hemiplegia of stroke. Methods One hundred and sixty patients of limb spastic hemiplegic of stroke were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, the treatment group received warm acupuncture-moxibustion, the control group simply received electro-acupuncture. Both groups received the rehabilitation exercise therapy. Ashworth rating scale, Fugl-Meyer and Barthel index were accessed on baseline, 15 day and 30 day. Results The Ashworth scores of two groups decreased obviously after treatment. The upper limb Ashworth scores of two groups showed no significant difference (P 0.05) on 15 day. There was a significant difference (P 0.05) between the two groups on 30 day. The scores of Fugl-Meyer motor function and Barthel index of treatment group was significantly higher than contol group, there were significant differences (P 0.01) between two groups. Conclusion Warm acupuncture-moxibustion can ease spastic hemiplegia of stroke effectively.

Abstract: Objective To observe the effect of antitumor and hematopoiesis of the extract of Spatholobus suberctus Dunn (SSCE) in vivo. Methods The mouse model of Lewis lung carcinoma was used to investigate the effects of SSCE on tumor growth and hematopoiesis by detecting the counts of peripheral blood, the counts and classify of the cells in bone marrow. Result The tumor inhibitory rate of SSCE on Lewis lung cancer was 30.65%. SSCE can stimulate the proliferation of bone marrow cells and relieve the marrow depression induced by chemotherapy, at the same time, the physique of the mouse treated by SSCE was not effected. Conclusion SSCE exits antitumor effect, moreover, it can stimulate the bone marrow cells to proliferate and relieve the marrow depression produced by chemotherapy.

Abstract: Objective To observe clinical effects and side reactions of Huayu pill combined with TC (Paclitaxel+Carboplatin) chemotherapeutic regimes on treating epithelial ovarian cancer. Methods All 60 patients with the epithelial ovarian cancer were randomly divided into the treated group (Huayu pill combined with TC chemotherapeutic, n=30) and the control group (TC chemotherapeutic regimes, n=30). Results The effective rate of the treated group and the control group was 46.7% and 37.9% respectively. The objective response rate (CR+PR+SD) was 86.7% in the treated group, while this rate was 68.9% in the control group (P 0.05). Huayu pill can reduce the hypercoagulation of blood and side effects of chemical medicine and improve the quality of life. Conclusion Combined with TC chemotherapeutic regimes, Huayu pill can bring better clinical effects and relieve side effects of chemical medicine.

Abstract: Objective To observe clinical efficiency of Xuanfei Bujin particles in the treatment of primary Sjogren's syndrome (PSS) and its impact on symptom score, ESR, immunoglobulin, as well as soluble intercellular adhesion molecule (sICAM-1). Methods Fifty eight cases of PSS patients were randomly divided into 38 cases of traditional Chinese medicine treatment group and 20 cases of western medicine treatment group. The symptom score, clinical efficiency, ophthalmic examination, sICAM-1, sIL-2R, ESR, immunoglobulin and other changes were observed. Results Total effective rate of Xuanfei Bujin particles treatment group was 84.21%, better than the control group. Xuanfei Bujin particles can significantly reduce dry mouth, dry eyes, and other symptoms of the main points, and improve the inspection of ophthalmology, sICAM-1. Conclusion Xuanfei Bujin particles is safe and efficient, and has certain degree in immune regulation.

Abstract: Objectives To explore the effects and mechanism of acupuncture treatment in emergent of acute hypertension by studying the acupuncture treatment on acute hypertension rats Method The acute hypertension rat model was made by injecting adrenalin into the abdomen After probing specific points, NO, ET-1, angiotensin and rennin levels were tested Results Acupunctured for 30 minutes, the experimental group's diastolic pressure dropped and NO level rose, and these changes were statistically significant regarding those of the medicine control group After the acupuncture treatment, the rennin level of the medicine control group and the experimental group were statistically different with the control group, but no significant difference was found between the medicine control group and the experimental group Conclusion Probing Quechi, Taichong, Sanyinjiao and Neiguan may lead to the improved performance of the vessel endoderm, the rise of NO level and the decrease of angiotensin content, and consequently reduce the blood pressure of acute hypertension rats

Abstract: Objective To compare the tannin contents of Platycladus orientalis(L.) Franco and its carbonisatus.Method A tungsten molybdophosphate-casein colorimetric method was used with gallic acid as reference substance.Results The standard curve in the range of 0.026~0.26 mg(r =0.999 4),and the average recovery rate was 97.85%,RSD=1.07%(n =9).Conclusion The method is reliable and can be used to determine the tannic of and its different processed products.

Abstract: Objective To discuss the effect of Yifei Mixture (YFM) on quality of life in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) at stable phase. Methods Sixty patients with COPD were randomly divided into the control group with small dose Aminophylline Sustained-release Tablets and inhaling Salbutamol or becotide (30 cases), and the observation group with YFM 100 mL, po, Bid (30 cases). Results There was significant statistical differences between the two groups, which shows that the observation group was superior to the control group in amelioration of syndrome, pulmonary function, the times of hospitalization yearlong days, single hospitalization and the integration of SGRQ. Conclusion YFM can slow down the progression of COPD, reduce the time of hospitalization and improve quality of life.

Abstract: Objective To investigate the protective effects of Compound Astragalus Extract (CAE) on liver injury in mice Methods The acute liver injury models were induced by D-galactosamine (D-GalN,800 mg/kg,ip) and Bacillus Calmette Guerin (BCG,1×107/02 mL,iv) plus Lipopolysaccharide (LPS 75 μg/02 mL,iv) in mice ALT,AST,MDA content in liver homogenate were assayed by sepctrophotometry IL-1 activity and ConA-induced splenocytes proliferation were detected by [3H] TdR incorporation assay TNF-α activity was determined by assay of cytotoxicity against L929 cell Results CAE (60,120,240 mg/kg) could obviously lower the elevated liver index,ALT level in serum and MDA content in liver homogenate in D-GalN mice and in the immunological liver injury mice It also decreased ALT,AST level in serum,recovered ConA-induced splenocytes proliferation It had inhibitory effect on inflammatory factors TNF,IL-1 secreted by PMφs Conclusion CAE showed significant protective effects on chemical and immunological liver injury in mice

Abstract: Objective To investigate the comparative proteomes difference of PBMC between health adults and Parkinson Disease(PD) patients with Ganyang Huafeng syndrome and Xuexu Shengfeng syndrome.So to approach the essence of the two TCM syndromes from the protein expression level.Methods A series of methods,including immobilolized pH gradient two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophpresis(2-DE),Coomassie Brilliant Blue staining,PDQuest 2-DE analysis software,peptide massfingerprint based on matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flying mass spectrometry(MALDI-TOF-MS) and SWISS-PROT database searching,were used to separate and indentify the proteome of PBMC between health adults and PD patients with Ganyang Huafeng syndrome and Xuexu Shengfeng syndrome.Results The good 2-DE pattern including resolution and reproducibility was obtained.After Coomassie Brilliant Blue staining,15 spots were incised and analyzed by MALDI-TOF-MS.The typic peptide masses were searched in the SWISS-PROT database by Mascot software.All proteins were preliminarily identified,which ralated to cytoskeleton,anti-oxidative stress,protein degradation,signal transduction and cell cycle,etc.Conclusions The well-resolved,reproducible 2-DE patterns of Ganyang Huafeng syndrome and Xuexu Shengfeng syndrome PD were established and revealed the protein expression difference of PBMC between the two syndromes of PD patients.This research is helpful to provide substance evidence in investigation of the essence of Ganyang Huafeng syndrome and Xuexu Shengfeng syndrome on protein level.

Abstract: Objective To study the antitumor activities and immunity regulation of Hedyotis diffusa Willd injection. Methods Inhibitory effects of Hedyotis diffusa Willd injection on cell proliferation was detected with MTT method. Then the inhibitive rate was calculated. The immunomdulatory effects of Hedyotis diffusa Willd injection were investigated. Results Hedyotis diffusa Willd injection inhibited the proliferation of A549, SGC-7901, HEP-G2, Helacells in the dose of 100~20 μg/mL, and enhance the immunity regulation on S180 tumor transplanted in mice. Conclusion Hedyotis diffusa Willd injection has the antitumor activities and can enhance the immunity.

Abstract: Objective To explore the TCM syndrome and its distribution regularity of premature ovarian failure(POF) as well as the relation between the etiological factor and TCM syndrome of it.Methods The pathogenetic condition and etiological factor of 122 patients with POF were surveyed,and TCM syndrome differentiation was carried out on them.Results The TCM symptoms of POF manifested the tendency of variety.Among the 122 cases,Gan-stagnation and Shen-deficiency type accounted for 33.61% of them,Gan-Shen yin deficiency type for 18.03%,Pi-Shen yang deficiency type for 15.57%,Jin damage due to excessive heat type for 15.57%,Shen-deficiency blood stasis type for 8.20%,and Gan-stagnation and Pi-deficiency type for 7.38%.The influence of modern living environment and life style to the disease was found in 68.03% of the patients’ case history.31.15% of the patients was induced by emotion,31.97% by drugs and disease,and 4.92% by both of them.In patients induced by emotion,the proportion of Gan-stagnation and Shen-deficiency type was the highest as compared with the other types(P0.05).In patients induced by drugs and disease,compared with the other 4 types,Jin damage due to excessive heat type as well as Gan-stagnation and Shen-deficiency type were higher(P 0.05).In 37 patients without obvious etiological factor,Gan-Shen yin deficiency type,Gan-stagnation and Shen-deficiency type as well as Pi-Shen yang deficiency type were the most,but no significant difference was shown among them(P 0.05).Conclusion Gan-stagnation and Shen-deficiency type,Gan-Shen yin deficiency,Pi-Shen yang deficiency type and Jin damage due to excessive heat are the commonly encountered syndromes in patients with POF.Besides the congenital,Shen-Qi and Chong-Ren Qi-blood insufficiency as well as the genetic factor,the modern living environment and life style have the promotion in the genesis of POF.

Abstract: Objective To explore the molecule mechanisms of migraine with hyperactivity of liver-yang related proteins. Methods Animal model of migraine with hyperactivity of liver-yang was established through electrical trigeminal ganglion stimulation,and by administering orally with Fuzi decoction. The total proteins of splenic lymphocytes in the rats were separated by immobilized pH gradient-based two-dimensional gel electrophoresis. With coomassie blue staining,the 2-DE images were analyzed by PDQuest 7.0 software. Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization-Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) and database were used to identify the differential proteins. Result Ten differential spots protein were identified,and they were chloride intracellular channel 1,thioredoxin peroxidase Ⅰ,thioredoxin peroxidase Ⅱ,sequence 7 from patent WO9709348,Rho GDP dissociation inhibitor (GDI) alpha,actin related protein 2/3 complex neurofilament light polypeptide,proteasome subunit beta type and heat shock protein-27,annexin A1. Conclusion These protein may be involved in the development of migraine with hyperactivity of liver-yang. These data provide useful clues for elucidating the mechanisms of migraine with hyperactivity of liver-yang.

Abstract: Objective To explore the features of immune responsed activated by polysaccharides from herbal medicines and provide basis for immunomodulation of polysaccharides. Methods The mice were immuned by polysaccharides of Angelica, Atractylodes and Giant typhonium rhizome respectively, then the corresponeding antibodies and cross-reactive antibodies in serum were detected by ELISA. Results Three kinds of polysaccharides from herbal medicines could all activated the mice to produce not only the corresponding antibodies, but also the cross-reactive antibodies, the ranges of non-specific antibodies activated by distinct polysaccharide were different. Conclusions Polysaccharides from herbal medicines may be a kind of non-specific and broad-spectrum immunomodulators.

Abstract: Objective To establish the fingerprints for characterization of the chemical components of maidong(root of Ophiopogon japonicus) in two main cultivate regions of China,Sichuan(Chuanmaidong) and Zhejiang(Hangmaidong).Methods An HPLC-UV analytical methods was applied to detect 70% ethanol extracts of 20 samples from Sichuan and Zhejiang province,a "Fingerprint similarity evaluating system for TCM" issued by Pharmacopoeia Committee of P.R.China was used to evaluate the similarities all of the samples.Results The fingerprints revealed that the similarities were higher than 0.95 between samples from the same cultivate region,and were lower than 0.80 between samples from different regions of above two.Conclusion The fingerprints of Chuanmaidong and Hangmaidong were provided with high difference,and the difference can be taken as a most important proof for distinguishing the material medica of Chuanmaidong and Hangmaidong,but also in patent medicine of TCM.

Abstract: Objective To observe the suppression of human lung adenocancer growth to tea polyphenols plus Recombinant Human Endostatin Injection (Endostar). To offer the foundation which tea polyphenols inhibit angiogenesis effect and research its molecular mechanism. Methods After cultured and propagation,human lung adenocancer of A549 was implanted on BALB/c nude mice. Tea polyphenols,Endostar and drug combinations were taken by intraperitoneal injection. Antitumor function was determined with regular methods. Results The tumor control rate of tea polyphenols group,Endostar group and two drug combination groups were respectively 40.2%,35.8%,41.9% and 44.2%. The average tumor weight of four treated groups were all smaller than that of model group (P 0.01). The average tumor weight of two drug combination groups was no smaller than that of tea polyphenols group and Endostar group (P 0.05). Conclusion Tea polyphenols,Endostar and drug combination had significant inhibition effect on human lung adenocancer,but drug combination had no significant inhibition effect.

Abstract: Objective HPLC method was used to determine strychnine and brucine in the decoction of Semen Strychni and its processed products of Jiangxi methods and innovated methods.Methods SiO2 was used as the stationary phase,n-hexane∶dichloromethane∶methanol∶ammonia(47.5∶47.5∶5∶0.35) as the mobile phase,with detection wavelength at 254 nm.Result The contents of strychnine and brucine in the processed products of Jiangxi methods and innovated methods were low.The content of that in acetic acid-soaked product scalded with hot sand was the lowest.Conclusion Semen Strychni and its processed products of Jiangxi methods and innovated methods can lower the toxicity and improve the safety of clinical use.

Abstract: Objective To study the influence of Mutouhui extracts on hemorheology of U14 cervical cancer mice.Methods The U14 cervical cancer mice were divided into Mutouhui extracts high,middle and low dose group,Cisplatin Injection group,model group and blank comparing group.The influence on hemorheology change was observed after being given the medicine.Results The high,middle dose group of Mutouhui extracts and Cisplatin injection group could reduce the blood viscosity of U14 cervical cancer mouse in different shear,and hemotcrit of the low did not obviously change,groups of Mutouhui extracts plasma viscosity changed slightly.Cisplatin Injection group could reduce the blood viscosity,but did not obviously affect to the plasma viscosity.Conclusion Mutouhui extracts can reduce the U14 cervical cancer mouse blood viscosity,and improve the indexes of hemorheology.

Abstract: Objectives To observe the effect of the nourishing kidney and dispersing stagnated hepatoqi decoction (NKD) on symptoms and sex hormone of polycystic ovary syndrome patients with renal deficiency and hepatic stagnation. Methods Fifty six patients were divided into two groups:the NKD group (30 cases, treated with the NKD), and the Diane-35 group (26 cases, treated with Diane-35). Condition of menstruation, acne, hairiness and side effects were observed. The follicle figures and ovary volume were recorded, and the sex hormone were detected before and after treatment. Results Two patients were pregnancy in NKD group. After treatment, the condition of menstrual disorder and acne were improved significantly in both groups (P 0.05). Some patients in Diane-35 group had adverse reaction, while no adverse reaction in NKD group. The follicle figures were lessed, and ovary volumes were decreased in both groups (P 0.05). LH, LH/FSH and T decreased in both groups (P 0.05). Conclusions NKD could improve symptoms and sex hormone of polycystic ovary syndrome patients with renal deficiency and hepatic stagnation, and had no side effects.

Abstract: Objective To establish a method for the quantitative determination of AGP (Acanthopanax giraldii Harms polysaccharides). Methods AGP content was determined by DNS Method. The absorptions of processed samples were tested at the wavelength of 520 nm. Results Contrast to glucose, the linear range was 46.6~233.0 mg/L (r=0.999 2), the average recovery was 99.0%~102.1%, RSD=3.52%, n=5. The polysaccharides measured in 3 batches of samples were 1.3~1.9 mg/g. Conclusion The method is sensitive,steady with good repeatability, and help to the qulity control of Acanthopanax giraldii Harms.

Abstract: Objective To investigate the mechanism of anticancer activities of the extracts of prescription 921 Methods The inhibitory effects of the extracts of prescription 921 on DNA and RNA biosyntheses in cultured prostate PC-3M were investigated with 3H-TdR or 3H-UR incorporation Flowcytometry was applied to analyze the regulating cell cycle of the extracts of prescription 921 The expression of cell cycle related factors CyclinA, CyclinB, p21 and p27 were detected by Western-blot Results The extracts of prescription 921 showed inhibitory effect on DNA biosyntheses The cells of PC-3M were arrested in S-phage when treated with the extracts for 72 h The expression level of CyclinA was down-regulated while expression of CyclinB, p21 and p27 was not altered Conclusion The extracts of prescription of 921 play its anticancer activities by inhibiting DNA biosyntheses and arresting the cells in S-phage by down-regulating the expression of Cyclin A

Abstract: Objective To investigate the survival situation of thalassemia cases treated with Bushen Yisui Method. Methods The survival situation of 197 cases were investigated by telephone. Results The total survival rate of 197 cases is 87.3%, among which the thalassemia major is 65.71%, the thalassemia intermedia is 99.2%, the α-thalassemia is 100%, the β-thalassemia is 85.0%. 158 of 197 cases have been analyzed genotype, among which 63.16% is the survival rate of homozygote, 89.16% of the heterogenic duplex heterozygote, 100% of the heterozygote. To β-thalassemia, the survival rate has these trends:the major the intermedia, the homozygote the heterogenic duplex heterozygote the heterozygote. To thalassemia major, the survival rate has the trend:the homozygote the heterogenic duplex heterozygote. To homozygote and heterogenic duplex heterozygote, the survival rate has the trend:the major the intermedia. Conclusion The survival rate of 197 cases has relations with the type of thalassemia, the clinical phenotype and the genotype, and the clinical phenotype and the genotype have the most effects on it.

Abstract: Objective To study the effect of Chinese herb medicine compound on general state and bone-muscle system in simulated weightlessness rats, and to observe the synergistic action of other ingredients in the compound on calcium. Methods Thirty Wistar rats were divided into 3 groups:control group, tail suspend group, tail suspend and medicine group which were given Chinese herb medicine compound by intragastric administration. After 3 weeks simulated weightlessness, body weight (BW), muscle weight (MW) and index (MI) of posterior limb, bone length (BL), wet weight (BWW), index (BI), dry weight (BDW), content of organic (ORG) and inorganic (INO) substance, bone mineral density (BMD), and mechanical properties (MEC) of femur were observed. Results At the middle-later stage of the experiment, BW of tail suspend group decreased significantly (P 0.01). After 3 weeks simulated weightlessness, MW and MI, BWW, BI, BDW, ORG, INO, BMD, and MEC of femur all decreased significantly (P0.01) in tail suspend group compared with control group. In rats of tail suspend and medicine group, BW increased significantly (P 0.01), MW and MI also increased significantly (P 0.01 or 0.05), bone properties like BWW, BDW, ORG, INO, BMD increased significantly (P 0.01 or 0.05), and MEC tend to increase compared with tail suspend group. Conclusion Chinese herb medicine compound is effective to prevent the change of muscle, bone and general body state. Simple calcium supplement can not prevent simulated weightlessness induced bone loss, and other ingredients in the compound may perform synergistic action to calcium (Concha Ostreae prepared by acetic acid).

Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of volatile oils of Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii (RAT), Semen Myristicae (SM) and Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae (PCR) on percutaneous penetration of total alkali of Shortstalk Monkshood Root through mouse skin in vitro. Methods By using an improved Franz diffusion cells, the effects of these 3 kinds of volatile oil on the percutaneous penetration of total alkali of Shortstalk Monkshood Root were observed and compared with Azone, and the cumulative amount of Bullatine A was determined by HPLC. Results 7% (v/v) volatile oil RTA and SM, 5% (v/v) volatile oil of PCR and 3% (v/v) Azone were best concentration, the penetration coefficient were 5.88, 6.91, 5.30, 5.75, respectively. Compared with the group without penetration enhencers, the enhancement ratios were 1.09,1.28, 0.98, 1.06, respectively. Conclusion The volatile oil of RAT and SM enhance penetration of total alkali of Shortstalk Monkshood Root. The volatile oil of PCR cannot enhance penetration.
