TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of the two post-coital contraceptive regimens on ovarian function when administered before ovulation and on endometrial morphology when administered immediately after ovulation was studied.
Abstract: In Stockholm Sweden data on 16 women who received either 0.1 mg ethinyl estradiol (EE) and 1.5 mg levonorgestrel (Yuzpe regimen) or 600 mg danazol (8 women in each group) on cycle day (CD) 12 in the treatment cycle were compared with data on 16 other women who received the same treatment doses on the second day after the luteinizing hormone surge (LH+2) (8 women in each group). In all groups the women received the doses twice during a 12-hour interval. The aim was to study the effect of the 2 postcoital contraceptive regimens on ovarian function when administered before ovulation and on endometrial morphology when administered immediately after ovulation. After treatment with the Yuzpe regimen and the EE/danazol regimen on CD 12 the mean area under the curve for LH was much lower than in the control cycles (p =or+ 0.01). There was no detectable LH peak in 3 women in the Yuzpe group and in 4 women in the EE/danazol group. Among the remaining women the LH surge was postponed (CD 16-39 for Yuzpe group and CD 13-24 for EE/danazol group). The Yuzpe regimen as well as the EE/danazol regimen at LH+2 did not significantly affect hormone levels. Most women on the Yuzpe regimen at LH+2 experienced impaired luteal function. In the Yuzpe regimen group endometrium development changed significantly (p < 0.05) with a dissociation in maturation of glandular and stromal components. Yet this change was not enough to characterize the endometrium as out-of-phase and therefore was not enough to prevent pregnancy. EE/danazol had no apparent effect on endometrium development. These findings suggest that inhibition or delay of ovulation and suppressed corpus luteum function are the contraceptive effect of the postcoital Yuzpe regimen and EE/danazol. The Yuzpe regimen-associated direct effect on the endometrium is limited.

TL;DR: Most patients scored higher on the nutritional knowledge questionnaire than matched controls, particularly in respect to questions concerning caloric content of food, dieting and roughage, but not all patients obtained high nutritional knowledge scores however, and 25 per cent performed less well than selected controls.
Abstract: A retrospective study of typical 24-h food intake was undertaken of the diets of 17 anorexia nervosa patients during the initial and the most severe phases of their illness. Patients completed a nutritional knowledge questionnaire. Patients' diets were significantly lower in energy and in all major nutrients than those of control subjects. The proportion of energy derived from protein was significantly higher, from fats significantly lower and from carbohydrates not significantly different from that of controls. The mean intake of all nutrients in the more severe phase of illness was lower in the initial phase. Intakes of calcium, retinol activity and ascorbic acid were below RDA levels in the majority of patients, but only a few reported intakes of thiamin, riboflavin and niacin equivalent below RDA values. Most patients scored higher on the nutritional knowledge questionnaire than matched controls, particularly in respect to questions concerning caloric content of food, dieting and roughage. Not all patients obtained high nutritional knowledge scores however, and 25 per cent performed less well than selected controls.

TL;DR: The nutrient content of 85 cooked dishes has been calculated using McCance and Widdowson's 'The composition of foods' (Paul & Southgate, 1978) and the factors used to estimate losses of water in cooking are included.
Abstract: The nutrient content of 85 cooked dishes has been calculated using McCance and Widdowson's 'The composition of foods' (Paul & Southgate, 1978). The nutrients covered were energy, fat, protein, carbohydrates, ten minerals and 12 vitamins. Recipes for each dish and the factors used to estimate losses of water in cooking are included.

TL;DR: Spinach, rhubarb, peanuts, chocolates, parsley and tea were found to contain high levels of oxalate, but beetroot was found to be five times as high as previously reported, but coca-cola and beer were almost free from oxalates.
Abstract: A specific enzymatic method was used to determine the oxalate content of some common foods. No preliminary isolation of oxalate was required and recoveries ranging from 95-110 per cent were obtained. Spinach, rhubarb, peanuts, chocolates, parsley and tea were found to contain high levels of oxalate as previously described by others. On the other hand the oxalate content of beetroot was found to be five times as high as previously reported, but coca-cola and beer were almost free from oxalate. Cereals and meat were either low or deficient in oxalate.
