TL;DR: In this paper, simple flow visualization experiments are described to demonstrate the phenomenon of releminarization of an originally turbulent flow by a variety of different mechanisms, e.g., flow reordering.

TL;DR: In this paper, a strain-controlled low-cycle combined bending and torsional fatigue testing machine was designed and fabricated, which has two independent 4-bar mechanism with stepless control of both input crank lengths thus giving an independent precise control on the maximum bending deflection and maximum angle of twist.
Abstract: A strain-controlled low-cycle combined bending and torsional fatigue testing machine was designed and fabricated. It has two independent 4-bar mechanism with stepless control of both input crank lengths thus giving an independent precise control on the maximum bending deflection and maximum angle of twist. 98.9 per cent pure aluminium specimens of the ASTM hour glass type were tested in pure bending, pure torsion and combined bending and torsional fatigue loading. The machine performed satisfactorily throughout the range of bending strain and shear strain for which it was designed. The results showed that, in the pure bending and pure torsional fatigue tests, they resembled the test results of previous investigators. The combined bending and torsion low-cycle fatigue results show resemblance to high cycle fatigue results of other investigators quoted. The plot of test results can be used for design of components subject to low-cycle combined bending and torsional fatigue loading.

TL;DR: N[2-naphthyll glycine hydrazide was found to completely inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37 Rv when tested in Youman's medium and the dihydrochloride salt of the compound was prepared and found to have the same level of biological activity as the parent compound in equimolar amount.
Abstract: N[2-naphthyll glycine hydrazide (compound MC 1415) was found to completely inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37 Rv at 1 ug/ml when tested in Youman's medium. The dihydrochloride salt of the compound was prepared and found to have the same level of biological activity as the parent compound in equimolar amount. In the presence of human serum in the medium the activity of both against M. tuberculosis is reduced ten-fold (there is partial inhibition of growth of the organism at 10fig/ml). The LD 50 of the dihydrochloride in mice by the intraptritoneal and oral routes was found to be 246.6 mg/kg and 593 mg/kg respectively.

TL;DR: In this article, an explanation in terms of the changes in energetic particle fluxes within the sectors is suggested for the observed varirtions in mesospheric temperature over the period December 1970-May 1973.
Abstract: Variations in equatorial mesospheric temperatures in the 51-70 km altitude region recorded from 115 M-100 rocket soundings pt Thumba (8°N, 77°E), have been analysed in relation to solar magnetic sector structure over the period December 1970-May 1973. The pattern of esospheric temperature variations is found to be dependent on the type of sector. Heating effects of 5-10°C are observed in the mesosphere following both types a sector boundary crossings. These effects are sound to be preceded by mesospheric temperature decreases. An explanation in terms of the changes in energetic particle fluxes within the sectors is suggested for the observed varirtions in mesospheric temperature. Similar variations dependent on sector structure are possible in stratospheric parameters.
