TL;DR: Ripple Effect Mapping is a facilitated discussion with project staff and local stakeholders that creates a visual “mind map” during the discussion that shows the linkages between program activities and resulting changes in the community.
Abstract: What is Ripple Effect Mapping? Ripple Effect Mapping (REM) is an evaluation tool used to better understand the intended and unintended impacts of a project. It is particularly helpful when evaluating complex initiatives that both influence, and are impacted by, the community. REM is a facilitated discussion with project staff and local stakeholders that creates a visual “mind map” during the discussion that shows the linkages between program activities and resulting changes in the community.

TL;DR: Although the research presented here primarily focuses on the development of mathematical concepts in deaf children, the findings illuminate possible causes for some of the difficulties experienced by deaf students and witnessed by parents and teachers through postsecondary mathematics education.
Abstract: The disparity in mathematical performance between deaf and hearing students is well documented in educational literature. The 50th percentile deaf and hard-of-hearing high school graduates have computational skills comparable to 6th-grade hearing students and have problem-solving skills comparable to 5thgrade hearing students (Traxler, 2000). Deaf children lag mathematically behind hearing children by about 3 years, despite normal nonverbal IQs (Wood, Wood, & Howarth, 1983). Some contend that mathematical ability influences future employment and earnings to a greater extent than the influence of reading ability (Kelly, 2003). Terezinha Nunes seems to have written this book with the intention of reaching several audiences simultaneously. In a clear and understandable format, Nunes presents a perspective informed by research. The research is presented in a linear progression through the early stages of mathematical development from knowledge of the counting string up to multiplicative reasoning.Nunes sets the stagewith an account of the statistics relating to deaf students’ progress in mathematics education. She then offers an explanation, backed by correlational data, why deafness is not the cause of the difficulties experienced by deaf children in math education. Throughout the progression, Nunes illuminates where and why deaf students may be experiencing difficulties in key developmental periods and how said difficulties may cause further delays in subsequent mathematical development. Each chapter contains possible intervention techniques that have been implemented by Nunes through various research projects in the United Kingdom. In the end, Nunes presents and assesses a comprehensive intervention program designed to address the aforementioned critical delays or gaps in deaf children’s mathematical learning. Given the disparity experienced by deaf students and the well-documented advantages of students’ success in mathematical education, the insufficiency of research in this area is cause for concern. Therefore, this book is a monumental contribution given that this is practically the only work of its kind. Although the research presented here primarily focuses on the development of mathematical concepts in deaf children, the findings illuminate possible causes for some of the difficulties experienced by deaf students and witnessed by parents and teachers through postsecondary mathematics education. For researchers, this book offers a concise review of Nunes’s work as well as the findings of other researchers in relation to her work in this area. More important, it highlights the need for further study.

TL;DR: This guideline highlights the need to prevent pregnancy in women who are being treated for cancer and informs health care professionals treating pregnant women with chemotherapy of the potential risks of the therapy or ameliorated treatment protocols.
Abstract: Objective: To promote careful education, administration, monitoring and restricted distribution when prescribing and dispensing chemotherapeutic and potentially teratogenic medications, as well as to develop clinical recommendations for the use of cancer chemotherapy in pregnant women and women of child-bearing age . Outcomes: To ensure that women of child-bearing age receiving chemotherapy can be appropriately counselled on the risks of becoming pregnant during treatment, and to provide guidance for health care practitioners treating pregnant women with antineoplastic agents . Evidence: Published literature was retrieved through searches of PubMed or Medline, CINAHL, and The Cochrane Library in 2011, using appropriate controlled vocabulary (e .g ., antineoplastic agents, neoplasms, pregnancy) and key words (e .g ., cancer, neoplasms, pregnancy, chemotherapy, antineoplastic agents) . Results were restricted to systematic reviews, randomized control trials/controlled clinical trials, and observational studies . Studies were restricted to those with available English abstracts or text . Searches were updated on a regular basis and incorporated in the guideline to October 2011 . Grey (unpublished) literature was identified through searching the websites of health technology assessment and health technology assessment-related agencies, clinical practice guideline collections, clinical trial registries, and from national and international medical specialty societies . Values: The quality of evidence is rated using the criteria described in the Report of the Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care (Table 1) . Benefits, harms, and costs: This guideline highlights the need to prevent pregnancy in women who are being treated for cancer and informs health care professionals treating pregnant women with chemotherapy of the potential risks of the therapy or ameliorated treatment protocols . SUMMARY STATEMENTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS Summary Statements 1 . As women are postponing child-bearing, more of them are experiencing cancer in pregnancy . (II-2) 2 . Chemotherapeutic agents used to combat cancer cross the placenta and may adversely affect embryogenesis by affecting cell division . (II-1) 3 . Exposure to such agents after the first trimester of pregnancy has not been associated with increased risk of malformations but is associated with increased risk of stillbirth, intrauterine growth restriction, and fetal toxicities . (II-2) Recommendations 1 . The health care provider should examine the patient’s risk of pregnancy and desire to prevent pregnancy during chemotherapy . (I-A) 2 . Decisions about the best course of management in pregnancy, including timing of delivery, should balance maternal and fetal risks . Most authorities concur that maternal health and well-being must prevail . (I-A) 3 . Women diagnosed with cancer in pregnancy should be optimally managed by a multidisciplinary team that includes oncologists and/or hematologists (depending on the malignancy), perinatologists, family physicians, psychologists, social workers, and spiritual advisors, if sought by the family . (I-A)

TL;DR: What do you do to start reading louder than words?
Abstract: What do you do to start reading louder than words? Searching the book that you love to read first or find an interesting book that will make you want to read? Everybody has difference with their reason of reading a book. Actuary, reading habit must be from earlier. Many people may be love to read, but not a book. It's not fault. Someone will be bored to open the thick book with small words to read. In more, this is the real condition. So do happen probably with this louder than words.

TL;DR: Outcomes for women recently diagnosed with breast cancer who either received support and information from a multidisciplinary team or used a shared decision-making programme on an interactive video disk (IVD) system suggest that the role of clinical staff is more significant than the form of information provided.
Abstract: A randomised-controlled trial compared outcomes for women recently diagnosed with breast cancer who either received support and information from a multidisciplinary team or used a shared decision-making programme on an interactive video disk (IVD) system. Using the IVD did not have a significant effect on the decisions women made about treatment, yet it was evaluated positively by those who used it. The results suggest that the role of clinical staff is more significant than the form of information provided. Potential benefits for the IVD were apparent such as standardising the information received by patients, promoting evidence-based practice and providing a measure for quality assurance.

TL;DR: Drawing conclusions can be drawn, such as the importance of ensuring that prophylactic therapy is active against both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria; and, single dose treatment can be as effective as a full course of antibiotics.
Abstract: This article summarises the findings of a systematic review of the literature concerning antimicrobial prophylaxis before colorectal surgery. From analysing 152 clinical trials certain conclusions can be drawn, such as the importance of ensuring that prophylactic therapy is active against both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria; and, single dose treatment can be as effective as a full course of antibiotics.

Abstract: Interestingly, in your face that you really wait for now is coming. It's significant to wait for the representative and beneficial books to read. Every book that is provided in better way and utterance will be expected by many peoples. Even you are a good reader or not, feeling to read this book will always appear when you find it. But, when you feel hard to find it as yours, what to do? Borrow to your friends and don't know when to give back it to her or him.

TL;DR: Last week, dwelling consents fell in August – but that followed a 20% jump the previous month, which suggests a stronger upward trend in the building pipeline than the authors had allowed for.
Abstract: Last week, dwelling consents fell 4.9% in August – but that followed a 20% jump the previous month. Looking through the volatility (which reflects the increasing shift to multi-unit buildings in Auckland), that suggests a stronger upward trend in the building pipeline than we had allowed for. In Auckland, consents for 8,615 new dwellings have been granted over the past year – still a fair way away from the 11,000 we think will be necessary to meet the demands of a growing population, but clearly moving in the right direction. Canterbury consent numbers continue to show signs of flattening off.

TL;DR: It was indicated that patients found the CPA process difficult to understand, and that there was an over-emphasis on administering the system.
Abstract: This study explores the attitudes and experiences of one group of patients on the care programme approach living in an outer London borough. There was evidence to suggest that patients were unfamiliar with their treatment programmes and lacked knowledge regarding their care. Further research into patient attitudes to the CPA would be beneficial, since it was not possible to make precise conclusions based on this study.
