Abstract: This study aims to analyze the effects of social capital—namely structural, relational, and cognitive dimensions—on crowdfunding performance using Kitabisacom as a case study for 2013-2015 Using robust ordinary least squares methods, we find two important results Structural dimension, which is measured by Facebook friends owned by an entrepreneur, affects crowdfunding success The cognitive dimension, which is measured by the number of words that are written by entrepreneurs in the platform, also affects crowdfunding opportunities in order to wage a successful campaign Using logistic regression technique, this study finds the same result, namely that the structural dimension and cognitive dimension have a positive relationship to the performance of crowdfunding From a logistic regression, we can conclude that the number of Facebook friends and the amount of words to describe the project significantly positively influence the chances of success of the project; the more the number of friends and the number of words on a project, the greater chance of a project to achieve success This study concludes Facebook friends owned by entrepreneur and number of words affect positively crowdfunding opportunities toward a successful campaign

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examine individual and contextual factors as mechanisms underlying how psychological ownership and perceived support influence employee voice behavior, and demonstrate that psychological ownership (i.e., an individual characteristic) and perceived supervisor support dynamically affect voice behavior.
Abstract: This study aims to delineate the key socio-emotional needs important for voice behavior. To do this, we examine individual and contextual factors as mechanisms underlying how psychological ownership and perceived support influence employee voice behavior. Employing survey research of 210 employees from two big companies in Indonesia, analyses revealed that perceived supervisor support had direct and indirect effects on voice behavior, and job-based psychological ownership is a crucial mediator of the relationship between organization-based psychological ownership and perceived supervisor support on voice behavior. Path analysis offered further support for the complete model (χ = 4.25, df = 3, P-value = 0.235, RMSEA = 0.045). The present study contributes to current understanding by demonstrating that psychological ownership (i.e., an individual characteristic) and perceived supervisor support (i.e., a contextual characteristic) dynamically affect voice behavior. We discuss implications for research on voice behavior by highlighting key drivers to support employees’ emotional needs that are essential for voice behavior. 2

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the relationship between corporate governance, corporate social responsibility disclosure, and economic consequences and found that CSR disclosure activities have a very important role in meeting stakeholders' interests and ensuring the sustainability of the company long-term.
Abstract: The objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between corporate governance (CG), corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosure, and economic consequences. Broadly speaking, the CG variables consist of ownership structure and management/control structure. The CSR disclosure variables consist of economic, environmental, social, human rights, societal, and product responsibility dimensions. The economic consequences variables consist of bid-ask spreads, trading volume, and share price volatility. The hypotheses are tested using a structural equation modeling analysis with 210 samples of listed firms on the Indonesian Stock Exchange in 2014. The result of this study is as follows: (1) the effect of the proportion of board of directors from the board of commissioners and the audit committee on the CSR disclosure is positive and significant; (2) the effect of the proportion of independent commissioners and the audit committee from the board of commissioners, the audit committee, and the board of directors on CSR disclosure is positive and significant; and (3) the effect of CSR disclosure on trading volume is positive and significant. The main implication of this study is that CSR disclosure activities have a very important role in meeting stakeholders' interests and ensuring the sustainability of the company long-term. In addition, CSR disclosure is considered to be an assertion of a company’s brand differentiation, which means obtaining operating licenses both from the government and society, and the company’s risk management strategy.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the role of human capital (HC) development between the relationship of high-performance work systems (HPWS) and export-oriented SMEs performance, and provided evidence that HC development plays a mediating role between HPWS and enterprises performance.
Abstract: Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) contribute substantially to the economic development, income generation, poverty reduction, and particularly job creation for both developed and developing economies. However, compared with large firms, SMEs face several challenges related to their performance and competitiveness. The role of human capital (HC) and human resource practices (HR Practices) in enhancing SMEs competitiveness and performance is vital but understudied areas. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the role of HC development between the relationship of high-performance work systems (HPWS) and export-oriented SMEs performance. Quantitative strategy and cross-sectional survey method was used to collect data from 205 managerial staff through a self-administered structured questionnaire. HPWS had a significant positive impact on export-oriented SMEs performance. The findings of the study provide evidence that HC development plays a mediating role between HPWS and enterprises performance.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provided a holistic view of the causes and effects of workplace conflicts, and how managers or a management can resolve the conflicts among their teams and organization through a detailed, multidimensional framework carried out on one of the biggest textile firms of Pakistan.
Abstract: While workplace conflicts have been widely studied in the literature, this research provides a holistic view of the causes and effects of such, and how managers or a management can resolve the conflicts among their teams and organization through a detailed, multidimensional framework carried out on one of the biggest textile firms of Pakistan. With an initial sample of 145 respondents, 37 questionnaires were dropped because of invalid and incomplete answers; therefore, the study was carried out on 108 respondents. Conflicts are a part of human nature, but management should play an important role in dealing with these issues, as there can be enormous chances of conflicts due to a diverse workforce. Conflict also results in poor work performance and low productivity; therefore, it’s suggested to create teams or groups which may encourage a competitive culture in the organization. Additionally, a few remedies are identified, which may resolve some issues; managers must look at those techniques for a better culture.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined hazard perception effects on the demand for insurance with special focus on motorcycle riders in Lagos state and found that while dread and trust both appeared to have significant effect, publicity and controllability both have positive contributory effect; furthermore, choice expressed an inverse relationship with demand for motorcycle riders.
Abstract: This study examines hazard perception effects on the demand for insurance with special focus on motorcycle riders in Lagos state. For this purpose, the researchers have been able to examine selected hazard perception determinants and their effects on the insuring attitude and desire of motorcycle riders. An explanatory research design was employed and a convenience sampling type of the nonprobability sampling technique was adopted. Data was gathered by interviews conducted at motorcycle parks along the Lagos-Badagry expressway. The sample consisted of 126 respondents made up of commercial motorcycle riders within the sample areas. Data collected was analysed using multiple regression technique. The study was able to establish some level of contributory linkage between hazard perception and demand for motorcycle insurance. The findings show that while dread and trust both appeared to have significant effect, publicity and controllability both have positive contributory effect; furthermore, choice expressed an inverse relationship with demand for insurance among the motorcycle riders. The study therefore recommends pre-loss and post-loss measures among the motorcycle riders so that unforeseen motorcycle risks can be managed. Also, insurance companies should endeavour to invest more on enlightening the motorcycle riders in order to lessen their dread of loss outcome, and thus, design policy that can instil trust in motorcycle riders in insurance as a loss control measure.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated whether IT integration and company governance can affect the relationship between intellectual capital and company performance in the Indonesian banking sector, and found that VAHU has a positive effect on financial performance.
Abstract: This study investigates whether IT integration and company governance can affect the relationship between intellectual capital and company performance in the Indonesian banking sector. That could happen, as there are ever tighter and more numerous competitiveness levels in the banking sector, especially in the field of information technology (IT) and the support given by the top management. This study employs data from 33 banking companies listed on the ISE (Indonesian Stock Exchange) in 2013–2014. The testing was done on the elements of VAIC TM (VACA, VAHU, STVA), moderated by IT strategy integration (ITSI) and corporate governance (DK) using the measurement of financial performance (ROA). The findings obtained show that VAHU has a positive effect on financial performance. If the VAIC TM element were moderated by ITSI, then a well-integrated IT strategy would weaken the relationship between VACA and banking performance. The limitations of this study lie in the period of the data used, which is limited to 2013–2014, and in that the component used for testing was done in isolation.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated how corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities act as liaisons between business performance (brand attitude and loyalty) and social performance (children's quality of life).
Abstract: Various types of corporate social responsibility ( CSR ) are perceived different ly by parties associated with those activities because CSR is driven by different motives. This study investigates how CSR activities – CSR activities concerning health and well-being of mothers and children – act as liaisons between business performance (brand attitude and loyalty) and social performance (children’s quality of life). A survey was conducted in Indonesia on 450 respondents–customers of firms in industries related to natural resources and in regards to children’s well-being. The data were considered via factor analysis and multiple regression analysis. The results show business, stakeholder, and moral motives. Brand attitude and loyalty can influence perceptions toward these motive. Further, these motives could increase or decrease social performance. Companies should consider the type of CSR activities to engage in because the activities can be perceived as being driven by different motives and have different impacts on social performance. This result suggests that companies can harmonize business aspects and social aspects of CSR in creating value.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the crucial management dimensions or key elements of organizations that have been managed as Islamic almsgiving institutions (zakah funds) in Indonesia and examined how two Islamic or faith-based organizations, herein named CV (commanditaire vennootschap) "X" and "Y" Foundation, manage small enterprise programs based on zakah to reach a wider range of beneficiaries.
Abstract: This research analyzed the crucial management dimensions or key elements of organizations that have been managed as Islamic almsgiving institutions (zakah funds) in Indonesia. Zakah funds are traditionally managed for a limited number of beneficiaries. Zakah funds are now collected and managed by professional Islamic or faith-based organizations and institutions at the national or regional level to achieve a wider range of beneficiaries. This article examines how two Islamic or faith-based organizations, herein named CV (commanditaire vennootschap) “X” and “Y” Foundation, manage small enterprise programs based on zakah to reach a wider range of beneficiaries. Using qualitative methods, the research identifies crucial dimensions in the management of organizational dynamics of these Islamic or faith-based organizations, i.e., organizational systems, human resources, and organizational climate. Those elements are used to manage economic empowerment activities with faith as a supra structure or contextual underlying factor. Field findings also demonstrated the usefulness of religious values in managing sustainable community-empowerment practices in small enterprise programs.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors aim to determine the level of interest by farmers in using the services of formal financial institutions, especially digital financial services (DFS), by using descriptive statistics and SEM analysis.
Abstract: This research aims to determine the level of interest by farmers in using the services of formal financial institutions, especially digital financial services (DFS). The methods of the research were descriptive statistics and SEM analysis. The majority of respondents (50%) farmed an average area of land less than 0.5 hectares, 26% of respondents an average of 0.75-1 hectares and 24% of respondents an average of 0.5-0.75 hectares of land. Based on the status of land ownership, as many as 76% of respondents owned the property itself, 19% had a “lease” arrangement and 5% used state owned “arable”land. A total of 27% of the farmers were interested in using DFS while 34% were not. The lack of intereset was due to practical uses, enjoyment of cash and lack of knowledge. The reason for interest in DFS included practicality, speed, and security of use. Results from the SEM model indicate a significant and positive influence of Access to Usage, significant and negative influence of DFS to Access, significant and positive influence of DFS to Interest, significant and positive of Interest to Desire, and a significant and positive Desire to Access.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors report the sources of productivity growth of 23 Indonesian airports for years 2006-2010 using input slack-based productivity index (ISP), disaggregate total factor productivity change into each input productivity change.
Abstract: This paper reports the sources of productivity growth of 23 Indonesian airports for years 2006-2010. Using input slack-based productivity index (ISP), we disaggregate total factor productivity change into each input productivity change. Apron area and terminal area are chosen as input variables while aircrafts’ movement is the output. By classifying the airports based on two operators, this study finds that airports under the management of Angkasa Pura 1 (AP1) show higher productivity growth than Angkasa Pura 2 (AP2), whose growth is mainly driven by technical progress in apron areas. Moreover, the productivity decline of AP2 was mostly due to inefficient use of terminal areas.
