TLDR
In this article, the authors discuss the effects of gender stereotypes on gender stereotypes in the context of gender discrimination in the media and show that gender stereotypes can be used to discriminate between genders.
Abstract

On Discrete Structural Optimization

TL;DR: The application of discrete programming to structural optimization permits the use of tabulated section properties and eliminates the need for approximate relations, such as between weight and section modulus, which may obscure the optimal solution.

Discrete-continuous variable structural synthesis using dual methods

TL;DR: A newly devised gradient projection type of algorithm called DUAL 1, which includes special features for handling dual function gradient discontinuities that arise from the discrete primal variables, is used to find the solution of each dual problem.

Method for nonlinear optimization with discrete design variables

TL;DR: In this article, a numerical method is presented for the solution of nonlinear discrete optimization problems, where the applicability of discrete optimization to engineering design is discussed, and several standard structural optimization problems are solved using discrete design variables.

Optimum Design Using Available Sections

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors derive optimal structural design methods which do not depend on theoretical weight strength functions, but instead work directly with the available discrete sections of a rigid-plastic model.

Unconstrained discrete nonlinear programming

TL;DR: The success of these new methods in finding good solutions in penalty function problems indicates their usefulness in solving unconstrained nonlinear discrete variable optimization problems.

Optimal Synthesis of Steel Frameworks Using Standard Sections

TL;DR: In this article, a computer-based method for optimally sizing members of planar steel frameworks using commercially available standard sections is presented, and a minimum weight structure is found while simultaneously ensuring stress and displacement performance conditions under applied service loads.
