TL;DR: A new approach--system dynamics modeling--for the prediction of solid waste generation in a fast-growing urban area based on a set of limited samples is presented and research findings clearly indicate that such a new forecasting approach may cover a variety of possible causative models and track inevitable uncertainties down when traditional statistical least-squares regression methods are unable to handle such issues.

Determining the Main Factors in Declining the Urmia Lake Level by Using System Dynamics Modeling
TL;DR: In this paper, a simulation model based on system dynamics method was developed for the Urmia Lake basin to estimate the lake's level and the results showed that changes in inflows due to the climate change and overuse of surface water resources is the main factor for 65% of the effect, constructing four dams is responsible for 25% and less precipitation on lake has 10% effect on decreasing the lake’s level in the recent years.
