TLDR
Ollman as mentioned in this paper argues that the real problems derive from Engels' questionable application of dialectics to nature or from his faulty definition of historical materialism, as shown by Korsch and Althusser.
Abstract
As a scientific and radical Marxist, Ollman challenges every pseudo-Marxist or anti-Marxist determinism. He easily rejects the technological interpretations of Marxian economics as elaborated by, e.g., Plamenatz, Acton, Carew-Hunt, etc., or by those economists who, like Joan Robinson and Joseph Schumpeter, do not understand the importance of the dialectical categories in Marxism. Ollman also criticizes the vulgar “orthodox”, one-sided interpretations of historical and dialectical materialism. Nevertheless Ollman perhaps underestimates some differences between the old Engels and Marx: the actual question is not whether Marx approved wholly of Engels' Anti-Duehring. The real problems derive from Engels' questionable application of dialectics to nature or from his faulty definition of historical materialism (as shown by Korsch and Althusser).

The 'real' cultural significance of accounts.

TL;DR: The authors examined the relationship between accounting discourses and the conditions of social conflict in which these discourses are embedded, and argued that discursive accounting practices are more productively regarded as ideological weapons for participating in conflicts over the distribution of social wealth.

Beyond a critique of pure reason: From policy to politics to praxis in environmental and social research

TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that traditional Cartesian epistemes, that rely on formalistic policy declarations and which appeal to morality, are inadequate without a rigorous historical and politically informed praxis, wherein our own cognitive, spiritual, and aesthetic development is seen as integral to developing processes "out there".

The Production of Nature

Neil Smith
TL;DR: In this article, the idea of the production of nature is indeed paradoxical, to the point of sounding absurd, if judged by the superficial appearance of nature even in capitalist society.
Journal ArticleDOI

The king is dead. Long live the king

TL;DR: The authors look critically at the influence of post-modern philosophy, especially that of Foucault, on critical accounting, and argue that at the same time that we are rejecting one orthodoxy, we may be replacing it with another.
