Anomalous U234 U238 in nature
TLDR
In this paper, the authors reported radioactive disequilibrium in nature between U234 and its parent U238 and used this anomaly as a geochemical tool in the study of the behavior of U in rocks, soils, and natural waters.Abstract:
Recently, several workers, reported radioactive disequilibrium in nature between U234 and its parent U238. This anomaly may be used as a geochemical tool in the study of the behavior of U in rocks, soils, and natural waters. Samples of unraninite and Mississippian limestone in which U234 was expected to be in equilibrium with U238 were analyzed. Preliminary values for the oceans are given. Several samples from Eniwetok and Lake Bonneville were analyzed.read more

238U,234U and232Th in seawater
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used isotope dilution mass spectrometers to determine 238U,234U and232Th concentrations in seawater using a 233U236U double spike to correct for instrumental fractionation.

Uranium in open ocean: concentration and isotopic composition☆
TL;DR: Uranium concentrations and 234U/238U activity ratios have been determined in 63 seawater samples (nine vertical profiles) from the Atlantic, the Pacific, the Arctic, and the Antarctic oceans, using the alpha-spectrometric method for their determinations as discussed by the authors.

The status of U-series methods of mollusk dating
TL;DR: In this article, an intensive evaluation of the 400 available analyses of U-series nuclides in mollusks including 200 performed as part of the present study is presented, and it is shown that among the 60 samples of known age, Th230U234 ratios give correct ages no more than half of the time.

Comparison of Th230 and C14 ages for carbonate materials from lakes Lahontan and Bonneville
TL;DR: The reliabilities of the radiocarbon and uranium series inequilibrium methods of absolute age determination as applied to lacustrine carbonates have been evaluated in this article, showing that satisfactory agreement between the two methods generally exists.

Geochronological studies of deep sea sediments by the ionium/thorium method
Edward D. Goldberg,Minoru Koide +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a model for the mixing of the upper layers of the sediment, by worm-burrowing or near-bottom currents, is proposed and, if valid, allows the depth of mixing to be ascertained from the ionium/thorium profiles.

Absolute Dating of Deep-Sea Cores by the Pa(231}/Th({230)) Method
TL;DR: In this paper, the decay of U238 and U234 has a geochemical history different from that of Th232 and Fe2O3, and the validity of these corrections is questionable.

Some aspects of the marine geochemistry of uranium
TL;DR: A geochronology based on the growth of ionium (thorium-230) from uranium is applicable not only to corals, as previous investigators have pointed out, but also to oolites as mentioned in this paper.
