Automatic Welding Control System for Electric-resistance Weld Tube Mill

TLDR
In this paper, Sumitomo Metals has successfully developed an Automatic Welding Control System, using Pattern Thermometer, Upset Gauge, etc, which were newly developed for this system.
Abstract
Recently, high quality Electric Resistance Welded Tubes (ERW Tubes) have been requested by the customers To meet this demand, the Sumitomo Metals has successfully developed an Automatic Welding Control System, using Pattern Thermometer, Upset Gauge, etc, which were newly developed for this system The results obtained by applying this system to a small size ERW tube mill are as follows:(1) Welding temperature was stabilized by computer according to the conditions of the tube size, material and welding speed(2) This system has been found to be useful for welding low alloy steel and high carbon steel which have more severe welding conditions

Effects of post-weld heat treatment cycles on microstructure and mechanical properties of electric resistance welded pipe welds

TL;DR: In this article, two post-weld heat treatment cycles of one-step normalizing and two-step quenching and tempering have been performed by Gleeble, a thermo-mechanical simulator, to improve the toughness of fine-grained electric resistance welded pipe welds.

Design of Fuzzy-Sliding Mode Control with the Self Tuning Fuzzy Inference Based on Genetic Algorithm and Its Application

TL;DR: A self tuning fuzzy inference method by the genetic algorithm in the fuzzy-sliding mode control for a robot is proposed and it is guaranteed that the selected solution become the global optimal solution by optimizing the Akaike's information criterion expressing the quality of the inference rules.

Penetrator formation mechanisms during high-frequency electric resistance welding

TL;DR: In this article, high-speed cinematography of the phenomena revealed that molten metal bridges, which formed between neighboring strip edges near the apex point, travel along a narrow gap toward the welding point at a speed much faster than that of the strip.

Optimal distribution of drawing strains in the two-pass tube drawing process

TL;DR: In this article, an analytical model is developed, which determines the appropriate intermediate tube geometry to ensure uniform strain distributions for a two-pass drawing process, based on the evaluation of the cross-sectional changes of the tube after each pass.

Controlling and Monitoring of Welding Parameters for Micro-alloyed Steel Pipes Produced by High Frequency Electric Welding

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of the main process parameters (electrical and mechanical) and establish correlations between them, in order to optimize the welding process was determined by controlling and monitoring the welding parameters used.
