Purpose – The paper seeks to give some reviews of quality function deployment and by using a systems thinking perspective to show how QFD can be a useful and profit‐making tool for business decision making in general.Design/methodology/approach – In order to show that QFD is a tool that brings profit to the organization the paper has designed various loops using systems thinking perspectives and fundamentals theorems for discussion purposes and facts verification.Findings – The task of successful product development must encompass the management commitment in giving value to the voice of the customer by using quality function deployment. Quality function deployment and its profitability engagement: a systems thinking perspective

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is two‐fold: first, to deliver a review of the researches conducted on the topic of radio frequency identification (RFID) adoption and the key factors that play a big role in its adoption and second, to develop a systems thinking perspective of RFID adoption through its profitability power generation and engagement. The author illustrates the concepts drawing on the experience of five case studies already presented in the literature, all the way from service industries to highly developed technological industries. Thereafter, a list of key variables from proposed case studies are identified. Then, a causal diagram relating identified variables in some circulars is constructed and modeled.Design/methodology/approach – The paper identifies key elements of RFID through the review of six case studies. RFID adoption: a systems thinking perspective through profitability engagement

Purpose – The aim of this article is to propose a model to study the expenses of an RFID‐based library system. For this purpose risk‐benefit factors using causal loop concepts are studied and identified. Then, a flow diagram is developed and the mathematical formulation of the proposed model is presented and used for simulation purposes.Design/methodology/approach – This paper is written based on research and observations from scientific journals and reports. For this purpose key elements of risks and benefits of radio frequency identification in library services are identified.
