The Social Costs of Gambling
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors argue that gambling is fundamentally different from other forms of entertainment because gambling, unlike movies and football games, can lead to addiction, and that the prevalence rate of disordered gambling has been estimated to be between 0.4 and 2.0 % of the general population.
