Complete solutions for a class of elastic-plastic structures

TLDR
In this article, a mathematical programming method is proposed for determining the complete history of (generalized) stresses and strains during a loading process for a class of elastic-plastic structures, based on a pivoting procedure similar to the simplex method for a linear program.

Engineering and Economic Applications of Complementarity Problems

TL;DR: The goal of this documentation is to summarize the essential applications of the nonlinear complementarity problem known to date, to provide a basis for the continued research on the non linear complementarityproblem, and to supply a broad collection of realistic complementarity problems for use in algorithmic experimentation and other studies.

A mathematical programming approach to three-dimensional contact problems with friction

TL;DR: In this article, a variational inequality formulation for linear elastic contact problems with friction is presented, where the contact surface is constant during the loading history, and the conditions under which this procedure defines a unique solution map which describes the evolution of contact stresses and displacements for a prescribed load history.

A mathematical programming approach to contact problems with friction and varying contact surface

TL;DR: In this article, the numerical treatment of contact problems with friction is considered, starting from the algebraic stiffness equation of two discretized linear elastic bodies and taking the contact and friction laws into account, a new type of Linear Complementarity Problem (LCP) is suggested.

Analysis of elastic and elastic-plastic adhesive joints using a mathematical programming approach

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors considered a geometrically two-dimensional treatment of the adhesive, a linear displacement field through its thickness is assumed, and using the principle of virtual work and assuming linear elastic behaviour, equilibrium and constitutive equations are derived.

A quadratic programming approach for certain classes of non linear structural problems

TL;DR: In this paper, the problem of the deviation from the linear elastic, of the response of a nonlinear discrete structure to given loads, is formulated for various classes of cases, and all the problems considered are shown to be reducible to a single mathematical model: the quadratic program with sign constraints only.

Mathematical programming methods for the inelastic analysis of reinforced concrete frames allowing for limited rotation capacity

TL;DR: In this article, the inelastic flexural behavior of reinforced concrete beams is described by a trilinear (or, in general, multi-inear) moment-rotation relationship.
