A new perspective on multiple internal rates of return

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that when there are multiple (or even complex-valued) internal rates, each has a meaningful interpretation as a rate of return on its own underlying investment stream.

Economic analysis of r&d projects: an options approach

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed a valuation model for R&D projects based on real options, which is more appropriate in a world of uncertainty because it views an R&DM project as an initial investment that creates future follow-on commercial opportunities that are undertaken only if the initial RDM project is successful.

Short-Term Scheduling of Thermal Generators and Battery Storage With Depth of Discharge-Based Cost Model

TL;DR: In this paper, a mathematical formulation for short-term 24-h scheduling problem in conjunction with thermal generation is presented, and storage efficacy is examined by scheduling alongside traditional generation with prices typical in Ontario, Canada and battery storage is used to alleviate price spikes caused by ramping requirements.
