BRBF response modification factor

TL;DR: In this paper, overstrength, ductility and response modification factor of buckling Restrained Braced frames were evaluated using Opensees software and tentative values of 8.35 and 12 has been suggested for ultimate limit state and allowable stress design methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of the Lateral Thrust in Bolted Steel Buckling-Restrained Braces. I: Experimental and Numerical Results

TL;DR: In this article, an experimental and numerical analysis of the lateral forces exerted by the inner core of a buckling-restrained brace when, after buckling in compression, it arrives into contact with the external restraining case, from which it is separated by a small empty gap.
Journal ArticleDOI

Behaviour of frames with Non-Buckling bracings under earthquake loading

TL;DR: In this article, a single-bay ten-storey concentric braced frame with diagonal non-buckling bracing is chosen for studying their effect during earthquake loadings and a nonlinear time history analysis was carried out using SAP2000 to study the variation of maximum base shear, roof displacement, inter storey drift, damage index and stresses in various members due to the El Centro earthquake accelerogram.

Experimental and Analytical Studies on the Seismic Behavior of Conventional and Hybrid Braced Frames

Jiun-Wei Lai
TL;DR: In this article, an innovative hybrid braced frame system, the Strong-Back System, is proposed to mitigate the tendency of weak-story mechanisms to form in conventional steel braced frames.
