Its author rescues the young Lukacs, spotting the premisses and ideas that made this book not so much philosophically, but politically, a revolutionary accomplishment, in tune with the ''Event of 1917'' in Russia. Zizek thinks that it is precisely its political content, which points to a radical critique of the liberal-democratic regimes prevailing in the West, that keeps its importance in our time, in this sense overcoming the limits that the authors of The Dialectic of Enlightenment imposed to themselves.
