Abstract
In this paper a hexagonal shaped fractal monopole antenna is thoroughly investigated for UWB applications. The antenna is mounted on FR4 dielectric substrate and is fed by a 50 ohm microstrip feed line. Basically DGS and DMS structures are introduced to obtain multiband characteristics in UWB frequency range. The simulated results show stable radiation patterns and good return loss of less than −10 dB in the frequency range of 2.7–9.2 GHz. Each and every modification in the basic structure is supplemented with sufficient simulations and explanation to consolidate the results.
