Effect of extended infusion of a low dose of heparin on plasma FFA levels.

TLDR
It seems that even a slow infusion of heparin in small concentration raises and maintains the plasma FFA level, though to a much lesser degree than is seen during the stress of cardiac catheterization when a similar amount ofHeparin is used.
Abstract
Four healthy subjects were administered 2 infusions of 500 cc of dextrose in water with and without 25 mg of heparin. Two determinations of plasma FFA levels were made before the infusion and at regular intervals during the subsequent 3½ hr. An abrupt 51% rise in FFA occurred and was maintained during the infusions containing heparin. No significant change was seen during nonheparin infusions. It seems that even a slow infusion of heparin in small concentration raises and maintains the plasma FFA level, though to a much lesser degree than is seen during the stress of cardiac catheterization when a similar amount of heparin is used.

Psychologic correlates of growth hormone and adrenal secretory responses of patients undergoing cardiac catheterization.

TL;DR: The several patterns of hormonal change may reflect different neural organizations underlying the several types of coping behavior in patients studied for cardiac catheterization.

Heparin-induced lipolysis and feeding behavior in sheep

TL;DR: The lipolytic properties of heparin and their effect on feeding behavior of sheep were studied and Heparin sodium, injected IV at a dose of 240 U/kg body weight, induced a decrease of about 18% in sheep feeding behavior.

Pharmacologic Implications of Heparin Interactions with Other Drugs

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the pharmacologic implications of Heparin Interactions with Other Drugs, and present a review of the literature on this topic. But their focus is on the interactions with other drugs.

The effect of continuous heparin infusion for one year on serum cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations in the dog.

TL;DR: Serum cholesterol concentrations rose to 50% above control values after one month of heparin infusion, and remained significantly elevated at this level for the remaining 11 months, which may have implications for the long-term use ofHeparin anticoagulation in the treatment of atherosclerotic states in man.

Fat and carbohydrate metabolism during and following hemorrhagic shock in puppies: A comparison of different resuscitation protocols

TL;DR: This study suggests that the immature animal responds to hemorrhagic shock in ways similar to the adult, and the better initial hemodynamic response to resuscitation with high-volume lactation or lactated Ringer's with 5% albumin was offset by the better buffering capacity of blood resuscitation.
