TLDR
Cylinders of microfil light-cured composite resin were bonded to the labial enamel surface of bovine incisor teeth which had previously been subjected to different laser treatments, and the tensile strength reached 92.5% of the acid etched bonding.Abstract:
Cylinders of microfil light-cured composite resin were bonded to the labial enamel surface of bovine incisor teeth which had previously been subjected to different laser treatments. One part of the tooth surfaces were laser treated in a defocused way only, another part with a different overlaying pattern of focused laser pulses. Specimens were thermocycled and the adhesion of the composites were determined by tensile strength tests. The best results were obtained by laser conditioning of the enamel surface in a defocused way with an overlaying fine pattern of focused single shots. The tensile strength reached 92.5% of the acid etched bonding.read more

Comparison between Er:YAG Laser and Conventional Technique for Root Caries Treatment in vitro
Akira Aoki,Isao Ishikawa,Toshimoto Yamada,Masayuki Otsuki,Hisashi Watanabe,Junji Tagami,Yoshinori Ando,H. Yamamoto +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effectiveness of using an Er:YAG laser in vitro was compared with that of conventional mechanical treatment, in which half of the caries in each tooth was treated with the Er YAG laser, and the other was removed with a conventional bur or was left untreated as a control.

Differences in bonding to acid-etched or Er:YAG-laser-treated enamel and dentin surfaces.
TL;DR: Adhesion to dental hard tissues after Er:YAG laser etching is inferior to that obtained after conventional acid etching and extensive subsurface fissuring that is unfavorable to adhesion is shown.

Microleakage of composite restorations after acid or Er-YAG laser cavity treatments
TL;DR: Laser irradiation of enamel is not a valid alternative to acid-etching pretreatment for resin composite materials adhesion and no differences were found for microleakage on gingival wall, although lased dentin surfaces presented several characteristics that appear to be advantageous for bonding.

Erbium lasers in dentistry.
TL;DR: Ebium hard tissue lasers have the capability to prepare enamel, dentin, caries, cementum, and bone in addition to cutting soft tissue, and recent research has centered on the value of the erbium family of laser wavelengths in periodontics.

A Simple Method of Increasing the Adhesion of Acrylic Filling Materials to Enamel Surfaces
TL;DR: In the authors' attempts to obtain bonding between filling materials and tooth structure, several possibilities are being explored, including the development of new resin materials which have adhesive properties and the use of coatings as adhesive interface materials between filling and tooth.

TL;DR: The application of pulsed 2.94 μm Er:YAG laser radiation in vitro on extracted teeth to remove enamel, dentin, and carious lesions is very effective both for dentin and enamel.

Bovine Teeth as Possible Substitutes in the Adhesion Test
TL;DR: In order to find a substitute for human teeth in the adhesion test, the adhesive strength to bovine teeth was compared with that to human teeth using five dental cements and two composite resins.

Adhesion of Composite Resin to Bleached and Unbleached Bovine Enamel
TL;DR: There was a highly significant reduction in adhesive bond strength of the resins when the enamel was exposed to HP as compared with S, and SEM examination of randomly selected fractured test specimens indicated this reduction occurred primarily at the bonding resin-enamel interface.

Shear strength of composite bonded to laser-pretreated dentin
TL;DR: Dentin application to prepare dentin creates a more retentive surface for composite bonding, which moves closer to acceptable usefulness as research progresses.
