TLDR
A theory of pricing for a situation in which a number of utilities compete to supply electricity to consumers through a common transmission grid is developed in this paper, where operating constraints such as capacity limits, system constraints and reserve requirements as well as the price elasticity of demand with respect to time are included in the representation.

Dispatch methodologies for open access transmission systems

TL;DR: In this paper, Pool, bilateral and multilateral dispatch co-ordination are explored and mathematical models developed for each case, and the practical case when all three modes coexist is discussed with respect to both forward and real time dispatch.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of inter-temporal factors on the real time pricing of electricity

TL;DR: In this paper, a rigorous theoretical framework for the solution of the price formation and optimal dispatch problems taking into account intertemporal dependence of demand under spot and dynamic tariffs is presented.

Energetical, exergetical and economical optimization analysis of combined power generation system of gas turbine and Stirling engine

TL;DR: In this article, an optimization analysis on standalone gas turbine cycle, as well as combined cycle of gas turbine and Stirling engine are considered to find out the optimal operational point, thermodynamically and economically.
Journal ArticleDOI

Security-based rescheduling of transactions in a deregulated power system

TL;DR: In this article, a mathematical methodology to reschedule these transactions, when required for security-related reasons, is developed and an attempt is made to achieve optimal rescheduling both for preventive and for post-contingency control.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reconciling pool and contract dispatch in open access transmission operations

A.K. David
TL;DR: The dispatch of both suppliers who bid into the pool and of bilateral and multilateral contracts between individual buyers, sellers and brokers are obligations placed on the system operator in an open transmission access environment.

A Fast and Robust Variable Metric Method for Optimum Power Flows

TL;DR: This paper develops another reduction procedure with concepts borrowed from the fields of network dissection and parallel processing that appears to be as robust as the original Han-Powell algorithm and converges at least as fast for small problems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Principles of modern electricity pricing

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a framework for electric power pricing, reviews the basic theory of marginal cost pricing applicable to the power sector, and summarizes recent developments, and the adaptation of the theory for practical application for the objectives of power pricing policy results in a two stage procedure for tariff setting.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamic tariffs: theory of utility-consumer interaction

TL;DR: In this article, the general theoretical models of dynamic tariffs, such as spot pricing, are extended to include the issues of optimal response of industrial consumers and the effect of large-scale penetration of these tariffs on the utility load curve.
