Privacy protection is an essential part of any credible Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This article describes how invasion of privacy, defamation, and emotional distress claims can occur in EAPs. Practical guidelines are recommended to ensure that company managers and EAP staff protect troubled employees' privacy rights at all times.
