With the advance in flexor hallucis tendoscopy, endoscopic FHL tendon transfer can be performed without extensive soft tissue dissection.Abstract:
Chronic Achilles tendon rupture posed significant disability to the patients. Flexor hallucis longus (FHL) transfer can be used to restore the plantarflexion power of the ankle. Traditionally, a long medial incision with extensive soft tissue dissection is needed for FHL transfer. With the advance in flexor hallucis tendoscopy, endoscopic FHL tendon transfer can be performed without extensive soft tissue dissection.read more

Endoscopic Flexor Hallucis Longus Transfer for Chronic Noninsertional Achilles Tendon Rupture.
Jordi Vega,Jesus Vilá,Jorge Batista,Francesc Malagelada,Miki Dalmau-Pastor,Miki Dalmau-Pastor +5 more
TL;DR: The endoscopically assisted FHL transfer provided excellent results while benefiting from the minimally invasive procedure advantages, however, it entailed some technical challenges and may not be suitable for less experienced surgeons.

TL;DR: Endoscopic FLH transfer is a reliable option for patients with high skin risk and soft tissue complications and other studies are needed to compare this technique with the open procedure, gold standard by now, to ensure its safety and efficacy.

Comparison of Gastrocnemius Turn Flap and Hamstring Graft for the Treatment of Kuwada Type 3 Chronic Ruptures of the Achilles Tendon: A Retrospective Study.
TL;DR: Hamstring tendon graft is associated with better early recovery of dorsiflexion compared with GTF, and the long-term clinical outcomes of these 2 procedures are similar.

TL;DR: Endoscopically assisted procedures have been established to provide the surgeon with minimally invasive techniques to address common Achilles conditions and report consistently good outcomes with few complications, making them appealing for surgeons to adopt.

TL;DR: A reliable and reproducible surgical procedure for treating acute Achilles tendon ruptures that makes it possible to control the contact of the tendon edges, while at the same time decreasing the risk of a lesion of the sural nerve, with minimal scarring.

Chronic rupture of the Achilles tendon: a new technique of repair.
TL;DR: A new operative technique is described for the treatment of patients who have a rupture of the Achilles tendon, using the tendon of the flexor digitorum longus as the graft to bridged the large gap between the proximal and distal stumps.

Treatment of Chronic Achilles Tendon Disorders with Flexor Hallucis Longus Tendon Transfer/Augmentation
TL;DR: Flexor hallucis longus tendon transfer/augmentation is a reasonable option for treatment of chronic Achilles tendinosis and rupture and revealed significantly lower scores in the physical function category when compared with United States norms.

Traumatic rupture of the Achilles Tendon. Reconstruction by transplant and graft using the lateral peroneus brevis.
TL;DR: In this paper, an operative technique for the reconstruction of rupture of the Achilles tendon, usually produced by slight trauma and following pre-existing degeneration of the tendon fibers, was described.
