Characteristics of C-F Systems

Bruce E. Smart
- 01 Jan 1994 -
TL;DR: The physical properties and chemical reactivities of organic molecules can be dramatically affected by fluorination as discussed by the authors, and the numerous ways in which industry has taken practical advantage of these effects are the subjects of the following chapters in this book.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis of Trifluoromethylated Sultones from Alkenols Using a Copper Photoredox Catalyst.

TL;DR: The obtained fluorinated sultones are attractive as potential electrolyte additives or as structural motifs in drug synthesis, with the latter being demonstrated with the synthesis of a trifluoroethyl-substituted analogue of a benzoxathiin that has high anti-arrhythmic activity.
OtherDOI

Fluorinated Aromatic Compounds

TL;DR: In this paper, the preparation, properties, reactions, and applications of three types of fluorinated aromatic compounds: ring-fluorinated aromatics, side-chain fluorinated aromatic and arylfluoroalkyl ethers, and fluorinated nitrogen heterocyclics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular modelling studies on the reactions of fluoroalkenes with sulfur trioxide

TL;DR: In this article, the structures, molecular energies and electronic properties of a series of substituted fluoroalkenes and the corresponding alkane sultones, derived from the addition of sulfur trioxide to the double bond, have been explored using a combination of molecular modelling and theoretical calculations.
