Coefficient alpha and the internal structure of tests.

TL;DR: In this paper, a general formula (α) of which a special case is the Kuder-Richardson coefficient of equivalence is shown to be the mean of all split-half coefficients resulting from different splittings of a test, therefore an estimate of the correlation between two random samples of items from a universe of items like those in the test.
Journal ArticleDOI

An inventory for measuring depression

TL;DR: The difficulties inherent in obtaining consistent and adequate diagnoses for the purposes of research and therapy have been pointed out and a wide variety of psychiatric rating scales have been developed.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Coefficient of agreement for nominal Scales

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a procedure for having two or more judges independently categorize a sample of units and determine the degree, significance, and significance of the units. But they do not discuss the extent to which these judgments are reproducible, i.e., reliable.
Journal ArticleDOI

A global measure of perceived stress.

TL;DR: The Perceived Stress Scale showed adequate reliability and, as predicted, was correlated with life-event scores, depressive and physical symptomatology, utilization of health services, social anxiety, and smoking-reduction maintenance and was a better predictor of the outcome in question than were life- event scores.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ad hoc categories

TL;DR: Ad hoc categories possess graded structures as salient as those structuring common categories irrespective of type, the result of a similarity comparison process that imposes graded structure on any category regardless of type.

Maxims or myths of beauty? A meta-analytic and theoretical review.

TL;DR: Eleven meta-analyses evaluate social and fitness-related evolutionary theories and the veracity of maxims about beauty to demonstrate that raters agree about who is and is not attractive, both within and across cultures.
