Journal ArticleDOI
Root‐ and microbial‐derived mucilages affect soil structure and water transport
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used an experimental model with bacterial exopolysaccharides (dextran and xanthan) and root mucilage analogues (polygalacturonic acid, PGA), and up to 10 cycles of wetting and drying.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tortuosity: a guide through the maze
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors defined tortuosity in terms of the underlying flux of material or electrical current with respect to the forces which drive this flow, and showed that the maximum amount of information about pore structure is embedded in transport processes that combine advective and diffusive elements.
Dissertation
Simultaneous Inversion of Rayleigh Phase Velocity and Attenuation for Near-Surface Site Characterization
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the simultaneous inverse inversion of Rayleigh Phase Velocity and Attenuation for Near-Surface Site at a near-surface site at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Book
Handbook Of Soil Sciences: Properties And Processes
TL;DR: In this paper, Tuller et al. discuss the role of Abiotic Catalysis in the transformation of Organics, Metals, Metalloids, and Other Inorganics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modelling the destructuring of soils during virgin compression
Martin D. Liu,John P. Carter +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a theoretical framework for describing the behaviour of structured soils has been formulated and a general discussion on the modelling of destructuring of soils is also given, and it was demonstrated that the hypothesis may be employed as a basis for formulating a complete stress-strain model for structured soils.

Size sorting of fine-grained sediments during erosion: Results from the western Gulf of Lions
B. A. Law,B. A. Law,Paul S. Hill,Timothy G. Milligan,K. J. Curran,Patricia L. Wiberg,Robert A. Wheatcroft +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, size-specific mobility plots were generated by dividing the proportion of each grain size in suspension at each shear stress by its proportion in the sediment before erosion, where mobility equals one for all grain sizes.
