Abstract
Glass of composition SiO2–Al2O3–CaO–CaF2 (SACF) was made by conventional melting and quenching process using either normal or nano-SiO2. The glasses were characterized by differential thermal analysis (TG/DTA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and EDAX. The crystallization, microstructure, mechanical and chemical properties were compared for the two systems. It was observed that the nano silica containing glass ceramic have lower crystallization peak temperature (Tp), higher Vickers hardness and acid resistance than that of normal silica containing glass ceramics.

Influence of TiO2 content on the crystallization and microstructure of machinable glass-ceramics

TL;DR: In this paper, the results showed that by increasing the TiO 2 content, glass transition temperature (T g ), both the crystallization peak temperature ( T p I and T p II ) and activation energy ( E ) increased.

The influence of MgF2 content on the characteristic improvement of machinable glass ceramics

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of MgF2 on the various properties like crystalline behavior, microstructure phases, hardness etc. in the SiO2-Al2O3-MgO-K2O-B2O 3 glass system has been investigated.
