Study of mechanical properties and corrosive resistance of ultrafine-grained α-titanium alloy Ti-5Al-2V

TL;DR: In this paper, the structural phase state of grain boundaries in α-titanium alloy Ti-5Al-2V has been studied and it is shown that during Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) performed at elevated temperatures there is a change in local concentration of alloying elements (aluminum, vanadium) along α-Ti grain boundaries.

Mechanism of Degradation of Titanium Alloy IMI 834 and Its Protection Under Hot Corrosion Conditions

TL;DR: In this paper, an attempt has been made to understand the degradation mechanism of titanium alloy, IMI 834 under hot corrosion conditions at elevated temperatures, and the rate constants were evaluated for the depth of attack due to hot corrosion was compared with oxidation data.
Journal ArticleDOI

The mechanisms of hot salt stress corrosion cracking in titanium alloy Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo

TL;DR: In this paper, hot salt stress corrosion cracking in Ti 6246 alloy has been investigated to elucidate the chemical mechanisms that occur and the role of intermediate corrosion products such as Na2TiO3, Al2O3 and ZrO2, TiCl2 and TiH are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Environmentally assisted fatigue crack nucleation in Ti–6Al–2Sn–4Zr–6Mo

TL;DR: In this article, an unexplained feature was observed at the fatigue crack origin of a number of α / β titanium specimens tested at 450°C in the low cycle fatigue regime, the origin was discoloured blue but this was not a result of temper colouration; this feature sometimes resulted in large reductions in fatigue lives.

An electrochemical model for hot-salt stress-corrosion of titanium alloys

TL;DR: In this paper, an electrochemical model of hot-salt stress-corrosion cracking of titanium alloys is proposed to correlated the diverse observations made concerning this process, and an oxygen-concentration cel exists between the exposed surface of the corrosion specimen and shielded areas such as under salt crystals and at crack tips.
Journal ArticleDOI

The hot salt cracking of Ti alloys

TL;DR: In this paper, the reaction of hot Cl 2 with some α phase alloys: Ti-5Al-2·5Sn and binary alloys of Ti-Al and Ti-Sn.

Stress Analysis Of Bent-Beam Stress Corrosion Specimens

G. Haaijer, +1 more
- 01 Apr 1965 -
TL;DR: Many types of specimens are available for determining stress corrosion properties of metals and alloys as discussed by the authors, and the bent-beam specimen is particularly well suited for determining atmospheric streschastic properties.
