Toward a trauma-informed qualitative research approach: Guidelines for ensuring the safety and promoting the resilience of research participants

TL;DR: In this article , the authors lay the groundwork for a trauma-informed qualitative approach and outline five guidelines for conducting research: (1) preparing for community entry: Learning about the impacts of traumatic events and historical trauma on individuals and communities; (2) preparation for the qualitative interview or focus group: Establishing safety and trust in the research environment; (3) extending safety, and (4) knowing when to change course to avoid re-traumatization in the interview and focus group; and (5) committing to regular and radical self-reflection and self-care in research process.

Toward Understanding COVID-19’s Economic Impact on Black Women in U.S. Higher Education

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors highlight how and to what extent COVID exacerbated Black women's economic trajectories via their financial obligations, financial support, and financial stability, and offer two implications for practice: disrupting systemic oppression/inequities and developing a critical awareness of Black women’s economic precarity.
