Reliability analysis of m/g/1 queueing systems

TL;DR: Using a supplementary variable method, a transient solution is obtained for both queueing and reliability measures of interest in an MIGI1 queue with Bernoulli vacations and server breakdowns.
Journal ArticleDOI

On up- and downcrossings

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the properties of the number of up-and down-crossings of the stationary virtual waiting-time process of the GI/G/1 queueing system during a busy cycle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stochastic models for single neuron firing trains: a survey.

Stephen E. Fienberg
- 01 Sep 1974 -
TL;DR: It follows that the uniform distribution is not n-divisible for any n though it is decomposable in many ways (see e.g., [2], [3] for references).
Journal ArticleDOI

Choosing a Good Appointment System-A Study of Queues of the Type D, M, 1

Birger Jansson
- 01 Apr 1966 -
TL;DR: A queuing system with exponentially distributed service times and constant interarrival times is studied for the case with one service station and it is shown how its mean may be minimized by proper choices of the constant interArrival time and the initial numbers of customers in the queue.
Journal ArticleDOI

On the Traffic-light Queue

TL;DR: In this paper, a formal solution for the stationary distribution of queue-length at a fixed-cycle traffic light is found for a fairly general distribution of arrivals and for a single stream of vehicles which either all turn left or else all go straight on or turn right.
