Isozyme evidence for hybridization between Potamogeton natans and P. nodosus (Potamogetonaceae) in Britain

TLDR
A population of pondweeds from the River Stour in Dorset intermediate in morphology between Potamogeton natans L. and P. nodosus Poir is shown by means of isozyme evidence to be the hybrid P. natans (P. x fluitans Roth).

Partitioning and diversity of nuclear and organelle markers in native and introduced populations of Epipactis helleborine (Orchidaceae)

TL;DR: Although field observations suggest that self-pollination occurs frequently, populations had a genetic structure consistent with Hardy-Weinberg expectations and random mating, and there was no evidence for a genetic bottleneck associated with the introduction of E. helleborine to North America.

Taxonomic complexity and breeding system transitions: conservation genetics of the Epipactis leptochila complex (Orchidaceae).

TL;DR: Comparisons with published data from the putative progenitor species for the autogamous taxa (the widespread, allogamous E. helleborine) suggest iterative origins of autogamy, rather than the self‐pollinating taxa all being merely mutational variants of a single autogaming lineage.

Cryptic species in an endangered pondweed community (Potamogeton, Potamogetonaceae) revealed by AFLP markers.

TL;DR: Morphology, amplified fragment length polymorphisms (AFLPs), and sequences of the internal transcribed spacer region and trnL-F intron and spacer indicate that P. clystocarpus is a genetically distinct lineage compared to P. pusillus and P. foliosus.

Molecular evidence for a natural primary triple hybrid in plants revealed from direct sequencing.

TL;DR: Even though the triple hybrid is sterile, it possesses an efficient strategy for its existence and became locally successful even in the parental environment, perhaps as a result of heterosis.

Isozyme evidence for the parentage and multiple origins ofPotamogeton ×suecicus (P. pectinatus ×P. filiformis, Potamogetonaceae)

TL;DR: Evidence from isozyme analyses indicates that Potamogeton ×suecicus is the hybrid between P. pectinatus andP.

TL;DR: The discovery in many populations of relatively high levels of polymorphism at isozyme loci has forced a major reconsideration of evolutionary theory.

Studies of hybridization and chromosome number variation in aquatic angiosperms: evolutionary implications

TL;DR: Two important evolutionary factors, hybridization and chromosome number variation, are discussed with respect to interactions involving clonal growth, vagility, and asexuality in aquatic angiosperms.
