In this paper, reports of experimental determinations of solubility for 30 ternary systems of C4-C10 alcohols with hydrocarbons and water are exhaustively compiled and critically evaluated.
Abstract
Reports of experimental determinations of solubility for 30 ternary systems of C4–C10 alcohols with hydrocarbons and water are exhaustively compiled and critically evaluated. Reports of experimental determination of solubility that appeared in the primary literature prior to the middle of 2012 are included. For seven systems, sufficient data (two or more independent desterminations) for critical evaluation are available. All data are expressed as mass percent and mole fraction as well as the originally reported units. In addition to the standard evaluation criteria used throughout the Solubility Data Series, two additional criteria were used for each of the evaluated systems. These systems include two binary miscibility gaps in the alcohol + water and hydrocarbon + water subsystems. The binary tie lines were compared with the recommended values published previously and with values obtained with a predictive NRTL model.

An Efficient Way of Visualization of Mutual Solubility Data in the Whole Range of Compositions

TL;DR: In this paper, an efficient way or stretching phase diagrams is proposed that represents the whole composition range and reveals details of low-solubility regions, based on the transformation of mole fraction x1 to log10(x1/x2) = log10 (x1/(1 − x1)) for binary mixtures.

Generic Nature of Interfacial Phenomena in Solutions of Nonionic Hydrotropes

TL;DR: A universal crossover function is suggested that accurately interpolates the two theoretically based limits of interfacial behavior in aqueous ternary systems, containing hydrotropes and hydrocarbons, in a broad range of compositions and at various temperatures.

IUPAC-NIST Solubility Data Series. 101. Alcohols + Hydrocarbons + Water Part 3. C1–C3 Alcohols + Aromatic Hydrocarbons

TL;DR: The mutual solubilities and related liquid-liquid equilibria for 11 ternary systems of C1-C3 alcohols with aromatic hydrocarbons and water are exhaustively and critically reviewed in this paper.

Local compositions in thermodynamic excess functions for liquid mixtures

TL;DR: In this paper, a new equation based on Scott's two-liquid model and on an assumption of nonrandomness similar to that used by Wilson is derived, which gives an excellent representation of many types of liquid mixtures.

Mutual solubilities: water-ketones, water-ethers, and water-gasoline-alcohols

TL;DR: In this paper, the mutual binary solubilites have been measured for partially miscible water organic pairs at temperatures of 0-90 degrees C and showed that the solubility of the organic sepecies in the water layer usually decreases with temperature, often going through a minimum at about 60 degreesC and then increasing at higher temperatures.

TL;DR: In this paper, the mutual solubility and related liquid-liquid equilibria of C7 hydrocarbons with water and heavy water were exhaustively and critically reviewed for 23 chemically distinct binary systems that appeared in the primary literature prior to end of 2002.

Liquid-liquid equilibria for mixtures of an alkanol + water + a methyl substituted benzene at 25°C

TL;DR: Letcher et al. as discussed by the authors presented tie-line and liquid-liquid equilibrium data for mixtures of an alkanol + water + toluene or mesitylene at 25°C.
