Glucose Turnover and Disposal in Maturity-Onset Diabetes
H. F. Bowen,J. A. Moorhouse +1 more
TL;DR: In maturity-onset diabetes there is a hypertrophied flux of endogenous glucose, most of which is neither oxidized nor excreted, which indicates that overproduction is the greater factor in the development of hyperglycemia.

12 The use of isotope turnover techniques in the study of carbohydrate metabolism in man
TL;DR: It is this author's opinion that the employment of the radioactive isotopes at the low levels allowed by todays technology does not impose an unreasonable risk to the research subject, and the promise of increased for the detection of stable isotopes and their increased availability in a wide variety of compounds are factors that are sure to provide impetus for the wider use of these most valuable techniques in medical research.

TL;DR: Turnover and oxidation rates of glucose and lactate were determined using a priming dose-continuous infusion of14C-(U)-glucose and14C-lactate in anesthetized and mechanically ventilated non-fasted rats using the two-compartment model of Depocas and De Freitas (1970).

Studies on the pharmacokinetics of carbohydrates as a basis for their use in parenteral feeding
TL;DR: In this paper, the metabolic effects of glucose, fructose, sorbitol, xylitol and their combinations during intravenous application in men were investigated and the totale and metabolic clearance, the renal and metabolic elimination, the half-time and the turnover rate were measured.

TL;DR: Over 50 years ago, Benedict published his extensive monograph on the metabolism of fasting in man, in which he demonstrated that carbohydrate stores provide a small but significant component of the body's fuel for only the first few days.

Measurement of Size and Turnover Rate of Body Glucose Pool by the Isotope Dilution Method
TL;DR: Glucose uniformly labeled with C14 was administered intravenously in minute amounts to unanesthetized dogs in the postabsorptive state as an initial dose followed by a continuous infusion.
