CONSORT 2010 Explanation and Elaboration: updated guidelines for reporting parallel group randomised trials
David Moher,Sally Hopewell,Kenneth F. Schulz,Victor M. Montori,Peter C Gøtzsche,Philip J. Devereaux,Diana Elbourne,Matthias Egger,Douglas G. Altman +8 more
TL;DR: This update of the CONSORT statement improves the wording and clarity of the previous checklist and incorporates recommendations related to topics that have only recently received recognition, such as selective outcome reporting bias.
Journal ArticleDOI
The patient-reported outcomes measurement information system (PROMIS) developed and tested its first wave of adult self-reported health outcome item banks: 2005-2008
David Cella,William T. Riley,Arthur A. Stone,Nan E. Rothrock,Bryce B. Reeve,Susan Yount,Dagmar Amtmann,Rita K. Bode,Daniel J. Buysse,Seung W. Choi,Karon F. Cook,Robert F. DeVellis,Darren A. DeWalt,James F. Fries,Richard Gershon,Elizabeth A. Hahn,Jin Shei Lai,Paul A. Pilkonis,Dennis A. Revicki,Matthias Rose,Kevin P. Weinfurt,Ron D. Hays +21 more
TL;DR: The first large-scale testing of PROMIS item banks and their short forms provide evidence that they are reliable and precise measures of generic symptoms and functional reports comparable to legacy instruments.
Journal ArticleDOI
Depression and Quality of Life in Older Persons: A Review
TL;DR: A significant association between severity of depression and poorer QOL in older persons was found, and the association was found to be stable over time, regardless of which assessment instruments for QOL were applied.
Journal ArticleDOI
Does Positive Affect Influence Health
Sarah D. Pressman,Sheldon Cohen +1 more
TL;DR: This review highlights consistent patterns in the literature associating positive affect (PA) and physical health and raises serious conceptual and methodological reservations, but suggests an association of trait PA and lower morbidity and of state and traitPA and decreased symptoms and pain.
Assessing health status and quality-of-life instruments: Attributes and review
Neil K. Aaronson,Jordi Alonso,Audrey Bur,Kathleen N. Lohr,Donald L. Patrick,Edward B. Perrin +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the SAC's current conceptualization of eight key attributes of health status and QoL instruments (i.e., conceptual and measurement model; reliability; validity; responsiveness; interpretability; respondent and administrative burden; alternate forms; and cultural and language adaptations) and the criteria by which instruments would be reviewed on each of those attributes are presented.
