TLDR
In this paper, a mechanism of oxidation, explaining the experimentally observed ratio of the rates of accumulation of the products, was proposed; according to this mechanism, the basic direction of the reaction of the peroxide radical is its interaction with the carbonyl group of glyceraldehyde.
Abstract
1. The intermediates in the oxidation of glyceraldehyde in aqueous medium are glycolic aldehyde and methylglyoxal, while the final products are glyceric, glycolic, acetic, and formic acids and carbon dioxide. 2. A mechanism of oxidation, explaining the experimentally observed ratio of the rates of accumulation of the products, was proposed; according to this mechanism, the basic direction of the reaction of the peroxide radical is its interaction with the carbonyl group of glyceraldehyde.

Quasi-Homogeneous Oxidation of Glycerol by Unsupported Gold Nanoparticles in the Liquid Phase

TL;DR: A quasi-homogeneous solution of gold nanoparticles prepared by the Turkevich method was used as an unconventional catalyst in the oxidation of glycerol (GLY) in the liquid phase, achieving highest obtained conversion after 3 h of reaction at 100 °C under an oxygen atmosphere.

Ethanol determination using pressure mobilization and free solution capillary electrophoresis by photo-oxidation assisted ultraviolet detection.

TL;DR: This work presents the first detection and quantification of ethanol using either a simple pressure mobilization set-up or CE, and it is shown that ethanol interferes with this photo-oxidation reaction.
