TLDR
In this paper, the same type of material is applied to the surface of the workpiece or to a welding joint thereof by arc welding produced by the welding electrode, which is particularly suitable for repairing age-hardened superalloys of engine blades.Abstract:
Apparatus for the deposition welding or the joint welding of a workpiece made of a superalloy by an arc welding process in which the workpiece is supported in a protective-gas container into which is placed a welding electrode and an induction coil for preheating the workpiece. Material of the same type of the workpiece is applied to the surface of the workpiece or to a welding joint thereof by arc welding produced by the welding electrode. The apparatus and associated method are particularly suitable for repairing age-hardened superalloys of engine blades.read more

Welding of nickel-base superalloys having a nil-ductility range
TL;DR: An article made of a nickel-base superalloy having a nilductility range from the solidus temperature of the alloy to about 600° F. is welded, as for example in the weld repair of surface cracks, by removing foreign matter from the area to be welded as discussed by the authors.

Welding superalloy articles
Michael Foster,Kevin Updegrove +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a process for welding a nickel or cobalt-based superalloy article to minimize cracking by preheating the entire weld area to a maximum ductility temperature range, maintaining such temperature during welding and solidification of the weld, raising the temperature for stress relief of the super-alloy, then cooling at a rate effective to minimize gamma prime precipitation.

Method and apparatus for inductive preheating and welding along a weld path
TL;DR: In this paper, a method and system for system for welding a workpiece is disclosed, in which the work piece is preheated while the weld is being performed, and the preheating is performed fast enough that it can be done on-the-fly-immediately in advance of the weld.

Method and apparatus for welding a length of tube on to a pipeline
TL;DR: In this article, an annular inductor is placed around the welding zone and around the length of the tube to counter the tube's inherent tendency to overheating due to its substantially coaxial position within the inductor.
