TLDR
In this paper, a method is presented for obtaining limits to the stiffness of flat-flat-flat floor-plates at a column-to-slab junction, based on the theory of isotrapic thin-plated structures.
Abstract
A METHOD IS PRESENTED FOR OBTAINING LIMITS TO THE ROTATIONAL STIFFNESS OF FLAT FLOOR PLATES AT A COLUMN-- SLAB JUNCTION. THE METHOD IS BASED ON THE ELASTIC THEORY OF ISOTROPIC THIN PLATES AND ACCOUNTS FOR THE COLUMN CROSS SECTIONAL CONFIGURATION AT THE COLUMN-- SLAB INTERFACE, AS WELL AS THE FLOOR PLATE'S BOUNDARY CONDITIONS. THE FLEXURAL STIFFNESS OF THE SLAB AT A COLUMN--SLAB JUNCTION IS REPRESENTED BY A MOMENT- ROTATION COEFFICIENT AS USED IN BEAM AND FRAME ANALYSIS. MOMENT-ROTATION COEFFICIENTS FOR SEVERAL CASES OF SQUARE PLATES ON CENTRAL SQUARE COLUMNS ARE EVALUATED. THE DISTRIBUTION OF MOMENT IN THE SLAB DUE TO AN APPLIED MOMENT AT THE COLUMN--SLAB JUNCTION IS STUDIED. A NUMERICAL EXAMPLE IS INCLUDED TO SHOW THE APPLICATION OF THE PROPOSED METHOD. /AUTHOR/

Concrete flat slabs and footings : Design method for punching and detailing for ductility

TL;DR: In this article, simple but still realistic physical models suitable for structural design of flat concrete plates and column footings with respect to punching are presented, assuming that punching of a flat plate is assumed to...

On the Computation of Slab Effective Widths

TL;DR: In this article, an approximate closed-form solution for the computation of effective widths of floor slabs in laterally loaded multi-story buildings is presented, which can be extended to anisotropic slabs and to boundary conditions other than those usually assumed in analyses of this type.

Reinforced Concrete Exterior Waffle Flat Plate-Column Connections Subjected to Lateral Earthquake Loading

TL;DR: In this article, an experimental investigation of an exterior waffle flat plate-column connection subjected to combined gravity and cyclic lateral loading is presented, and the results show that ACI 318-05 code significantly underestimates strength; as an alternative, a simple model is proposed.

Nonlinear model simulating load–deformation relationship of flat plate structures

TL;DR: In this paper, an analytical method for flat plate systems subjected to lateral load was developed for application to nonlinear static analysis, where three independent nonlinear hinges were introduced with simulating flexural, shear, and torsional nonlinearity.
