TLDR
It was essential to isolate and characterise this specific inhibitor present in Aegilops ovata, which was considerably stronger in light than in darkness, an unusual feature, since all germination inhibitors already described inhibit the germination of Lactuca achenes in darkness more than in light.Abstract:
IT has been previously reported1 that the dispersal units of Aegilops ovata L. contain a germination inhibitor. Leachates of the hulls inhibited the germination of Lactuca achenes. This inhibition was considerably stronger in light than in darkness, an unusual feature, since all germination inhibitors already described inhibit the germination of Lactuca achenes in darkness more than in light. We therefore felt it essential to isolate and characterise this specific inhibitor present in Aegilops ovata.read more

Strategies of seed dispersal and germination in plants inhabiting deserts
TL;DR: Each of the plant species studied was found to have its own survival strategies of seed dispersal and germination, which depends on the influences of maternal and environmental factors when the seeds are still on the mother plant, mostly during the final stage of seed maturation.

Systematik und nomenklatur der lignane
K. Freudenberg,K. Weinges +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a system of notation for the lignans and isolignans is proposed, which is based on the oxygen equivalents in the benzene rings and side chains, and the name cyclolignans instead of isolateignans has been suggested.
