TLDR
In this paper, the authors discussed the importance of the aperture size in determining the off-axis behavior of a spherically spreading, conical primary beam of finite initial aperture.
Abstract
It is well known that the beam pattern of a parametric acoustic source whose difference frequency is generated largely within the nearfield of the primary beam includes a multiplicative aperture factor that can be important at large angles when ka≳1 (k is the difference frequency wave number, a is the aperture radius). Not so well known, however, is the fact that the same aperture factor arises in the case of a spherically spreading, conical primary beam of finite initial aperture. The importance of the aperture size in determining the off‐axis behavior of parametric sources is discussed.Subject Classification: [43]25.35; [43]20.30; [43]30.75.

Range compensation for backscattering measurements in the difference-frequency nearfield of a parametric sonar.

TL;DR: Parametric range compensation functions, when applied with calibration data, will enable difference-frequency echoes to be expressed in physical units of volumeBackscattering, and backscattering spectra, including fish-swimbladder-resonances, to be analyzed.

The secondary field of a parametric source following interaction with sea surface

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of a flat sea surface on the secondary wave field for a nonsaturation limited parametric source with a piston-type transmit transducer have been assessed both theoretically and experimentally.

Sound transmission through the human body with digital weaver modulation (DWM) method

TL;DR: In this paper, single sideband amplitude modulation (SSB AM) method is used as a modulation scheme and digital weaver modulation (DWM) method was adopted to make a SSB AM modulator with a higher degree of accuracy.

Parametric Sources — Design Considerations in the Generation of Low-Frequency Signals

TL;DR: The usefulness of parametric sources in the realisation of narrow acoustic beams with wide bandwidth capability has become well established and their use in systems as well as for experimental work both at sea and in laboratory scale experiments is illustrated.

Theory of parametric acoustic arrays

TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis of the far-field properties of the generated difference frequency sound field from two sound beams is presented, and the effects of interaction in the divergence regions are compared with the effects from a model composed of a plane collimated nearfield region of interaction, and a farfield divergence region.
