On Bifurcating Time-Periodic Flow of a Navier-Stokes Liquid past a Cylinder

TL;DR: In this paper, the Navier-Stokes problem can be formulated as a coupled elliptic-parabolic nonlinear system in appropriate function spaces, and sufficient conditions for branching out of a time-periodic family of solutions from steady-state solutions to the two-dimensional NavierStokes equations in the exterior of a cylinder are provided.

A Time-Periodic Bifurcation Theorem and its Application to Navier-Stokes Flow Past an Obstacle (Mathematical Analysis of Viscous Incompressible Fluid)

TL;DR: In this paper, an abstract time-periodic bifurcation theorem in Banach spaces is presented, where the original evolution equation is split into two different coupled equations, one for the time-average of the sought solution and the other for the "purely periodic" component.

Expansions at small Reynolds numbers for the flow past a sphere and a circular cylinder

TL;DR: In this paper, the Navier-Stokes equation is replaced by a set of differential equations for the coefficients ψn and Ψn, but only one set of physical boundary conditions is applicable to each expansion (the no-slip conditions for the Stokes expansion, and the uniform-stream condition for the Oseen expansion).
