Periodicals use at a small college library

Analysis of observed use of general, humanities, social science and general science periodicals revealed an adherence in the upper 90% of total use to Bradford's Law of Dispersion. General and social science titles were used to a far greater extent than humanities titles. In their order of significance, indexing, bibliographic instruction, and housing decisions increased the use of any given title. Applied as opposed to theoretical disciplines experienced a higher overall use percent of their titles. Foreign language titles experienced minimal use regardless of their subject content.read more
