Power train with infinitely variable ratio transmission

TLDR
In this paper, a torque transmitting power train for use in a motor vehicle employs a transmission with two adjustable pulleys and an endless flexible element trained over the pulleys, adjustable by a torque sensor and primary hydraulic adjusting units in dependency upon the magnitude of transmitted torque.
Abstract
A torque transmitting power train for use in a motor vehicle employs a transmission with two adjustable pulleys and an endless flexible element trained over the pulleys. The pulleys are adjustable by a torque sensor and primary hydraulic adjusting units in dependency upon the magnitude of transmitted torque, as well as by an adjustable selecting valve and secondary hydraulic adjusting units in dependency upon the desired or required transmission ratio. The primary and secondary adjusting units can receive a pressurized hydraulic fluid from a common source.

Continuously variable transmission with control arrangement and method for reducing impact of shock load

TL;DR: In this paper, a continuously variable transmission and method for preventing transmission belt slippage in the case of a sudden change in load torque on the transmission involve inserting a lag in the transmission with a torsional spring damper or elastomer damper device between the device to be driven and an output shaft of the secondary pulley of the transmission.

Control device for continuously variable transmissions

Ivo Agner
TL;DR: In this paper, a ratio shifting valve device is used to add pressure fluid to one and remove pressure fluid from the other of the pairs of conical disks in a cascade arrangement where the assurance of a sufficient belttightening pressure takes precedence over the ratio shifting function.

Continuously variable speed transmission

TL;DR: In this paper, a continuously variable speed transmission (VSTT) is described where an input member is driven by an engine through a torque sensor and the input member drives an output member at a selected RPM through a pair of adjustable sheaves and an endless belt or chain which is trained over the sheaves.

Hydraulic control apparatus for stepless transmission

TL;DR: In this paper, a hydraulic control apparatus is employed in a stepless transmission in which an endless belt is stretched between and wrapped around a pair of pulleys and the velocity ratio between input and output shafts is changed by varying the width of a groove defined in each of the pulleys.

Apparatus for controlling the transmission ratio of an infinitely variable transmission

TL;DR: In this article, an electromagnet having a displaceable armature and a winding which upon electrical energization produces a displacing force on the armature was used to control the transmission ratio of an infinitely variable V-belt transmission of the kind including a fluid control valve which supplies fluid to and relieves fluid from a cylinder space.
